The food was great, service is formal and gracious, very comfortable restaurant. Wine list was fine. Overall, a good experience.

This was a great restaurant with a lovely menu but it closed in December 2015 as innovative Chef Harold Dieterle figures out what to do next.

Perilla has one of those delightful menus where everything sounds great on paper, and everything we tried was great on our plates! Try starting with the generously-portioned duck meatballs - there will be enough for several to enjoy a tasty few bites. Two of us loved the grilled GIANT pork chop (so glad I brought my leftovers home. In the... More

Cozy little restaurant off the beaten path and highly recommend. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Our waiter, Seth, made the night very enjoyable and his recommendations were right on. We started with the duck meatballs and wow, were they excellent. Our table all ordered the Hanger Steak and again, we were not disappointed. They were all cooked to... More

Perilla never disappoints. The very creative menu includes dishes like lacinato kale salad, spicy duck meatballs, tempura of delicate squash(we had seconds!) roasted Brussels sprouts and for dessert, butternut squash custard. Its an unassuming restaurant with a very attentive wait staff. Its tucked away on Jones Street in the West Village, not to be confused with Great Jones Street in... More

Starving. Way too early for dinner but I couldn't walk another block. And so I knocked on the door of Perilla, because I was there and I liked their sign. Lucky me! The sunny, accomodating host opened the door, bade me welcome, poured a glass of something bubbly and I felt better instantly. It was all okay. The restaurant looks... More

On Jones St just off Bleeker, this is a great little restaurant. The chef/owner (Harold Dieterle) was the first season winner on the TV show "Top Chef", although we didn't know it the first time we went. We were just looking for a place near the Barrow Street Theater, around the corner. The menu is well crafted and the food... More

Went to this place to catch up with a friend who I hadn't seen in close to a decade. The restaurant is cozy but had a warm atmosphere which was very much welcome after the November drop in temps. The wine list was good and the bottle of red recommended to us, incredible. Service was lovely (attentive but not intrusive)... More

We had reserved a table for two some weeks prior to our NYC visit. When we arrived, we were shown to a table at the far end of the narrow restaurant, with a great view through the kitchen door. We were also treated to loud radio music being played for the kitchen staff. So much for our romantic dinner. The... More

Our second visit in 8 years and the food was just as excellent as our first visit. As a top chef winner he had held his standards high. Definitely go back and highly recommend this restaurant.

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
