This is now one of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan. I loved the intimacy of the space, which reminded me very much of favorite restaurants in France. We visited for lunch and were welcomed warmly. Our server could not have been nicer or more accommodating. He was at once very friendly and thoroughly professional. The food was really good, too!... We were doing a walk round the area and came across this cute looking coffee shop under the "Friends" apartment. It wasn't full so we entered and asked if we could just have coffee as we had already eaten (it was about 10am on Sunday.). The lady on the door pointed towards the counter and said "yes at the bar".... More

A table for four, us and two friends. Only reservation time available was 8.45pm (despite reserving on Opentable 3 weeks previously). Arrived at 8.45 but the table was not ready. Handled professionally and friendly. Food and service was excellent. Wine list relatively small and pricey. But the overall service and food makes this small restaurant a wonderful experience. Asparagus soup... More

The Little Owl is tucked away in Greenwich Village and sits in the building used to film the exterior shot for Friends apartment building. The restaurant is very cosy so bookings are recommended but if you walk in they keep a few seats at the bar free and you can also sit and wait until a table becomes free. The... More

A perfect little neighborhood restaurant with great staff, food and setting. Our table was running a late upon arrival but we were seated outdoor with complementary prosecco and since the area is really nice this was a bonus. The restaurant is quite small and from all tables you get a glimpse of the kitchen which creates an intimate feeling. The... More

We really enjoyed our lunch at The Little Owl! The porgy is served with a citrus/arugula salad, and it was a perfect combination. Their fish dishes appear to change, based on what is most fresh. The enchiladas verde were equally delicious. For dessert we shared their fruit crisp, and on that day it was strawberry/rhubarb. Yummy! Servers are friendly and... More

The Little Owl is cozy with friendly staff. The brunch cocktail menu had so many good choices it was hard to pick just one drink. The food was excellent' especially the meatball sliders. I am still craving those meatballs 2 months later!

Beautiful food, lovely ambience, staff proud of what they've created. Really enjoyed this crowded little restaurant. We were on our honeymoon so the staff went above and beyond to make it a special night. The portions aren't big but very tasty and healthy. Set in a cool part of town (my first time to NYC) about a 5-10 minute walk from... More

After a day of touring New York, strolling through (west) village and stopping for dinner at the Little Owl was just perfection. My husband had (luckily) booked this little restaurant, as it was packed even on a regular Tuesday evening. The food was very nice and reasonably priced given the New York prices. Service was very friendly and the atmosphere... More

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
