So we got lost in the West Village trying to find this place and in doing so shot past our reservation time. But we pushed ahead under the banner of 'Hope springs eternal' and we were rewarded.I had always wanted to dine at this establishment. It is very much a neighborhood place where they make you feel instantly at home.The... More

We stumbled across this restaurant and were very pleased with the food and service. They were able to accommodate my family of 4 (which included a 2 year old and a 6 month old). Great food and I would definitely recommend that you find this place when in New York.

The little owl is a very nice and cute restaurant in the middle of SoHo. We enjoyed a fantastic dinner with superb quality and variance. The wine list is not extensive but good. The service was excellent. Really great evening which however had its price. But this is normal in NY.

Had a super nice meal here! Just as expected when reviewers say this being a good restaurant with Friends "historical" background. Small, chic, highly recommended to make advance reservation. Food was excellent. I had the duck (sliced Long Island Duck with vegetable salad plus almond) as the appetizer, and the white fish as the main course. The by-the-glass #wine #redwine... More

Quaint place in the west village, the hostess was nice had many recommendations but locale though nice very small. Got for dinner with a few friends . Many choices are good but it's quality varies from plate to plate. Wine over priced as are some of the options. Service was good overall. I think it's a good option if you... More

Tiny, tiny restaurant so make your reservations early. We dined on a Saturday night at 8 and it was wonderful (the food, the service, and the wine). It is expensive but it is New York. We had to wait a few minutes upon arrival in the perch. What fun looking down at the diners and getting to check out all... More

Not easy to get a reservation but worth the effort. We went early before a jazz show at the Village Vanguard which was an easy walk from the restaurant. Lobster soup was exceptional, interesting combination of lobster broth, bits of lobster and poblano which gave it a distinctive tang. Would order it again. Their meatball sliders are legendary and not... More

We visit a lot of decent eateries in our home city of London (UK) and on our travels and we're more than happy to pay for quality and service - unfortunately we received neither here. After arriving 5 minutes early for our 1pm brunch reservation we were asked to wait outside until our table was ready by the front of... More

My daughter found this place online when she planned our trip as it is part of (but not associated with) the "Friends" building. We were very glad we went. The staff was very friendly and we both enjoyed our meals. It is pricey, and the place is very small. It is best to get a reservation and make sure you... More

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
