We made a special trip down from Midtown having seen this place in a documentary (metropolis). It was a really cold wet day and we were lucky to get seated right away. I had the Metzo ball soup which was fresh and tasty and just...More

If you want authentic Jewish food, go here! The lox bagel and potato latkes with creme fraiche and salmon roe were really good! Nice place if you are in the area. Only negative would be some of the prices are higher but if you order...More

Seated right away on a Monday at 1030! Amazing service. Everything we are was incredible. The salmon is mild and tender. The beet salad was so savory. Eggs cooked to perfection.

Met friends visiting from overseas to try this well-publicized restaurant, and the food was great, though you will have a line to deal with even in the mornings on a weekend. Also because the line stays long, you will not be able to keep the...More

Amazing belreakfast but it is quite pricy. Totally recommend the salmon bagel one. It is quite popular so be aware of long queues. What they also allow is you can write your name on the waiting list and come later once it is your turn.

Russ & Daughters Cafe lives up to all of my high expectations and is worth the wait - even on a bitterly cold day. Russ & Daughters shop has been part of our family life through visits each time we are in NYC or holiday...More

I have an unbelievable amount of love for this restaurant. I ate there twice last week out of sheer obsession. I had a beet juice lemonade that is now my favorite drink of all time. Highly recommend for lovers of smoked fish and Jewish things.

Chances are, unless you arrive very early, you will be waiting in line to eat at Russ & Daughters. However, believe me when I say that it is worth the wait! It was too cold to wait outside when we went, so we went around...More

A friend who lives in NY brought me here after a visit to the Tenement Museum. It’s a lovely place with friendly staff. We just stopped for a cocktail, but the menu looked great - lots of smoked fish and other Jewish style fare. I’d...More

Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving
immigrant past and its modern transformation into a

The blocks of tenements that represented the promise
and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience
now command top dollar for new residents. Right next

Mornings before 11am is best for brunch on Sundays. Might have seen Sarah Jessica Parker there too once. And definitely there is a bar counter seating area which caters to solos and couples too. If you do come by and drop... More
