After seeing videos and reading reviews we were very excited to go here. We were visiting NYC for the New Year and this was a special dinner to celebrate with another couple. The location is unusual as it is downstairs in a small space with a long communal table, which is fine. Service is prompt ant attentive.
We all had the fixed price Duck dinner which we made reservations for a few weeks in advance.
The meal was a mix of things: The appetizers were all good. the meal is a little confusing. Basically you get shared apps and what they call 2 Mains with the duck for 4. We were told we were getting the entire duck but it looked more like half of a duck. We had the soup dumplings, very tasty, The Fois, also very good, Shrimp dumplings and two mains were Sea Bass, I did not have, and Lobster. The Lobster was overcooked and salty, the others good.
The main reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is that, one of the reasons we chose Decoy was a Youtube video showing how the ducks are made and swerved. The video shows really juicy and fatty duck and a some modern sauces for the prep.
Basically the Duck we had was over cooked, the skin was not tasty but overly crisped and there was not a lot of meat, and what was there was overcooked.
I have had amazing peking duck where the skin and meat are juicy and tender and this had a flat quality. It was not bad but not great and for a dinner that cost upwards of $500 with no booze I would expect consistency and excellence. Not sure I would go back. I am not saying it was a bad meal but overpriced for what was served and disappointing in terms of the quality of the Duck.

food was good. some different stuff. they offer a prix fixe dinner for $80/person. lots of food and good service.
the restaurant is in a below sidewalk location. so cold winter air comes flowing in every time the door is open. you sit at either the bar or a community long table. you are right up against strangers and your and their conversations are heard.
we had 3 people and we got lucky because they put odd number of guests at an end. like the 'head of the table' placement. so our conversation was within the three of us. we also arrived first thing and got the end table away from the door.
if you are against the wall, you have to twist and contort to exit. very tight seating.
didn't like the piped in music. too loud and bad selection.
it was expensive, glad I did it, no need to go back.

This restaurant is in my top three in the city. The Peking duck is the best I have ever had. Every time we go in we get excellent food and excellent service. Sarah always goes "Above and Beyond" to make sure all my husband's dietary needs are met and she always remembers us when we come in. She is an asset to Decoy and any industry which needs great customer service!

Their expensive Peking Duck is bland and tasteless and literally have no flavor if you don’t dip in their any of the three boring sauces. There used to be a great duck place in midtown Sixth Ave but that closed. Better yet, go cheaper and better in Chinatown.

This place came highly recommended through the ZAGAT 2020 guide. It was a little hard to fin so you need to know it is in the bsement off the street from its' suster restaurant RedFarm. Ther seating consists on one long table which if you are by the wall may make getting in and out an adventure. I was a solo diner and was placed between two couples. It is comfirtbale (think more boarding school dinners - elbows tucked in). The food choice is vast and it all looked superb but as a solo diner I had to forgo all of that was the fixed price main was the peking duck which is why everyone was there. given each duck is the same size I was eating for two!
That siad it was superb I have had table service of peking duck in Hong Kong and this competes on every level - the skin was ultar thin and crsipy and yet the duck below was extremely moist. It came with three sauces for the pancakes - tranditional hoisin, cranberry and what I can only describe as peanut and jelly! I stuck to the hoisin until it ran out and moved on to the sweeter cranberry which gave the pabcake a different spin. Somewhat refreshing but I did prefer the trdaitional hoisin and would probably have preferred a bigger dish of this.
The price was very reasonable give the ambiance which was freindly and fun as well as the quakity of the food. Would definitely recommend and also go again but this time with someone to share so I can try all the other dishes other than just PK. :-)

I have had Peking Duck many times and this one was certainly good. What stood out was the starter of the fried fish skin and sauces. I had no idea what to expect and didn’t expect to like it. Boy was I wrong! My son and I both went to town on that. Wash it down with a very cold Tsing Tao and all I can say is YUM! The truffle fried rice with egg was uniquely delicious as well. The pictures are the foie gras app, the fish skin and then the Duck.

Best Peking duck I have ever had. Prefix menu with lots of small plates and main dishes. The food didn’t disappoint with good variety and great flavors, however there was so much food we had to take some home.
You need to make reservations. Place is small.
Service was decent.

You definitely need reservations. The place is small. Not at all upscale in ambience. No matter: the food was a delight! With your Peking duck dinner you get some pickles and veggie starters and even some fried shrimp. Then comes - dah DAH! - the duck, luscious, crunchy skin and moist meat; three dipping sauces. Delicious. We asked for a ginger panna cotta with berries for dessert. Mmmm. Totally recommendable!

The prix fix meal is expensive-- $80 per person! There was plenty of food. Appetizers -got the wygu beef (even though it is a very small portion), the pastrami triangles (odd but worth trying) then the Peking Duck which is the star of the show. Thin pancakes served with a platter of duck, crisped skin, scallions, and cucumber. The 3 sauces to choose from traditional hoisin sauce, cranberry sauce or peanut sauce. All good. And just when you think you are done come the main dishes! The marinated steak is wonderful, should have skipped the chicken. Rice and veggie. All good. But when you spend that much you would expect some kind of finishing touch-- dessert! Nope. Oh well.

The Peking Duck was great, the presentation of the various courses was excellent, and the entire meal was a memorable experience. It is also a great hide-away spot in the Village, and worth the ride to have the meal. The only consideration is they bring a lot of food, so come hungry. The branzino chips were a delight, the duck was as good as advertised, and the fried rice with scallops and crab was better than almost any I've had elsewhere. Worth the trip.

Haven't been to NYC for 10+ years. When I told my friend I am going to visit, she said "Let me bring you to this Peking Duck restaurant!" My first thought was like whattttt I am coming from HK/Vancouver, why would you bring me to a Peking Duck restaurant? Anyway, luckily the restaurant was just down my hotel so the distance was good. We were seated by the counter and we ordered the set meal with appetizers. It's pricey but I kinda expected it because everything in New York is expensive LOL. The appetizers were good especially the dumplings. I was surprised but the duck was great. It wasn't the best duck I ever had. I was eating one after another. We ordered a bottle of 750ml sake to go with our duck and we had a great time!

The duck was great; the appetizers were unforgettable; the service was outstanding -- personal and gracious and skilled. Perfect timing which is hard to do with a lot of sequential courses. Kudos to a brilliant waiter -- I wish I had gotten his name. Yes, Decoy was expensive and noisy -- but it was also exciting, buoyant, and delicious down to the last bite of multiple courses. Classic NYC and I loved every minute and every bite of it.

The food was salty and full of MSG, the seats were on a long shared table and the group next to us was boisterous and obnoxious. Towards the end of the meal the manager asked us to move over one seat so they could sit another large party - who was at the bar glaring at us. DO NOT GO HERE, THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF RESTAURANTS TO CHOOSE FROM IN NYC - THIS ONE IS EXPENSIVE, RUDE AND TERRIBLE FOOD
