Went here for a Saturday night dinner before a play, reservations at 5:30, promptly seated, waitress was attentive, friendly, but we were not rushed, ambiance was very nice, great location, food was excellent with good sized portions, good wine list, prices are mid range for...More

It has been at least 10 years since we last dined here, and I wish I had thought of it again sooner. But it's just a little out of the theatre district (well, not really, if you're going to a show in the mid-50s, at...More

We went for lunch and had the prixe fix which was very reasonably priced. The ravioli was excellent, the gnocchi very good, and the appetizers (salad and grilled calamari) solid but not amazing.

We had a delicious dinner here last night, having had some not so good Italian food elsewhere recently. We booked on the day, and glad we did as the restaurant was busy. Both the food and service were exceptional. Everything was clearly made from scratch...More

I have been visiting NYC for over 40 years. I think NYC is a little over-rated regarding their restaurants. It's hard to find the full package where you receive excellent food, quality, presentation, service, all at a reasonable price. Basso 56 is a fave because...More

This place is fantastic. The flavours, the food, the staff, the services. Fairly small restaurant that you could easily miss and walk past...but please don't. You have to try it in here. Truly amazing.
