I recommend having the organized sushi (or sashimi) sequence, rather than picking and choosing among all the different offerings. That way, you get the benefit of traditional and taste -- both superb here. The service is outstanding -- very sensitive. Leave your loudness, hurry, boorishness...More

If you read any of my earlier recent reviews I have been on a Omakase tear, from LA to SF to NY I have tried half a dozen truly excellent restaurants. Since this was in my neighborhood and received rave reviews I gave it a...More

Still my favorite restaurant in the world - great unique sushi. Usually crowded tho so reservations highly recommended. Service is friendly although they're very busy. Sitting at the sushi bar is probably better for couples if you're going for the omakase.

Well, simply the best sushi I ever had! Fatty tuna slices just melt in to your mouth. The price is proportional to the quality... so if you look for cheap, tasteless nigiri this is absolutely not your address!

Comparisons are difficult but Sushi of Gari on Columbus Avenue had excellent food and fine service at their Sushi bar. The tasting menu at the bar was beautifully prepared and presented. Yes, it is expensive but it was an experience that I am happy to...More

I'm a little surprised by the Michelin star here, however the food is certainly very good. We liked everything, but wouldn't recommend to a holidaying friend as a must visit restaurant in the city. We started by sharing a sashimi lunch special then eel &...More

While the sushi is terrific, the attitude of the staff more than compensates in the negative direction. If you sit at the sushi bar, you must order omakase. The reservationists try hard to force this alternative. While my wife and I love their sushi, we...More

I have eaten SUSHI frequently in Japan, my home country. It's almost a place and time to enjoy raw fish taste. It's first time to eat SUSHI in New York, and was wondering how I feel new taste SUSHI. But no doubt . Japanese also...More

I admit the friends who suggested Gari for dinner hyped it unmercifully - "best Japanese in the city", "best Japanese in America", "best sushi ever". So perhaps I was overly hopeful. For anyone who's spent a lot of time in Japan, or lived there, it's...More
