First time we visited the food was superb and service faultless but the second time we went the food was still very good (if expensive), the service was not so faultless as left sitting for long periods. Just as well we weren't in a rush!. Steaks top quality.

Steak was horrible and chewy couldn't eat it. Service was very poor. The waiter was very arrogant and rushed everything. Asked us if our meal was okay and was the other side of the room before we could answer. Quite expensive for what was served. We rather of had a McDonald's and would of been a lot tastier. Don't waste... More

The steak here is amazing so nothing more needs to be said on that! it is old school decor and you can probably get one of the staff to tell you some old mobster stories. i usually go her for a large company dinner and am impressed that they still get it right for so many people. Wine selections are... More

Stopped by around midnight to meet a friend for a cocktail. Patrick introduced himself with a handshake which is definitely a lost art. I was drinking Red Breast on the rocks while my friend had a Ketel One dirty martini. The drinks were pricey but heavy on the pour so no complaints there either. Patrick came now and then with... Nice venue yet quite expensive. Excellent porterhouse steak yet took forever to come, over an hour wait between starters and main dishes. Service was correct but had to ask for things 2/3 times. Don't think will go back.

This place is great. They offer a Cajun ribeye, but they can do it on any of the steaks, and it is perfect. The Au gratin potatoes are also amazing.

Nice place, but wow it's expensive one beer and and a vodka/sprite $27. Potter house steak, and asparagus and one bud $210. Good service but far too expensive even for New york standards

Thank Gordon B

One of America's most successful restaurants, this New York steakhouse opened in 1977 and has been a hit ever since.

It is one of the most trafficked restaurants in New York City and among the most celebrated steakhouses in the world. Specializing in fresh seafood and lobster and assorted steaks and chops, Smith & Wollensky is well recognized for its healthy portions, seasoned service staff and pop Americana ambience.

The painted wood exterior is dark forest green trim on sparkling white, with latticework trim. The elegant interior has turn-of-the-century appeal and design elements including shining brass, dark wood accents and polished wood floors.

Adjacent to Smith & Wollensky's is Wollensky's Grill. The Grill (entrance on 49th St) is open from 11:30AM till 2:00AM but does not accept reservations.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
