Recently I met friends at Madison Bistro. My last dinner here had been over 10 years ago. I was happy to discover that it is still a great little neighborhood French bistro. The food was simple and well prepared and the service was very accommodating. There's a room in the back that's great for a party of 8-12.

I didn't know that in New York a main meal could be so small, ok, it's Christmas Eve and I'm alone, but this bistro has left me hungry. I just had ravioli as a main course, which they charged at $28 and in the plate, only 3 ravioli turned up. I was reading previous reviews and, despite of not being... More

Good choice of menu, excellent french onion soup, try the La Bourguignonne short rib. Fairly pricey.

Nice Menu, food is good, portions on the small side but OK, prix fixed meal is decent value... only issue is service - the restaurant wasn't nearly full but the service was very weak.. Very friendly and accommodating but.... long wait between courses - missed items on orders... nothing earth shattering but moderately annoying...

It's tough to gain four or especially five stars in NYC for French cuisine; there is such great variety and some wonderful places. But, Madison and 37th doesn't have many such, and this bistro has great service, a pretty venue and a interesting menu -- not very extensive wine list, but many of the French standards. In my experience, the... More

We left the Morgan Library (see separate review) in great mood and looked for a place to have dinner on the way home. Madison Bistro claimed to be French and had reasonable menu so we entered. We are greeted by a Dracula (it's Halloween night) who sits us side by side on the only table available. If this can be... More

We ate on the bar as it was busy but it was perfect for us. The server at the bar too our order quiet quickly but... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
