I accept the blame for leaving dinner until the last minute but even though we stopped in very late, the quality of the food was on the verge of inedible. The veal had the consistency of warm shoe leather. I suspect this particular piece was cooked some time earlier in the evening and merely microwaved for our convenience. The pate... More

Friend recommended. He did not steer us wrong. Great food and atmosphere. Prices are reasonable. Great location. If you are staying at Waldorf, it is right outside the back door. Italian food.

I have visited this restaurant several times and have been delighted by their variety of excellent food. On our last visit we started with a selection of seafood appetizers,, followed by veal scallopini, linguini with clams and a tasty pasta dish of mushrooms, peas and sun dried tomatoes, everything was perfectly prepared and delicious. The servers are friendly and efficient,... More

Is a small place where the tables are very close, so is a bit noisy and hard to keep a normal conversation in this place. We asked pasta and it was just normal but the price was for a better quality.

Lamb chops were excellent rarely to my liking in the US. (No one does lamb chops like NZ except possibly UK or Toronto - rarely as tasty in the US as San Martin served. I do agree with another review that the potatoes were poor quality - seemed to be leftovers! However, vegetables of the day (Brussels sprouts & carrots... More

On Marathon weekend, we were looking for a pasta restaurant the evening before the race. Well the hotel concierge recommended San martin. What a delight! There were 7 of us, 4 adults and 3 children (9,7, & 5) with 2 of the adults doing the NYC Marathon the next morning. The restaurant was full with all the tables full. The... More

We ate here twice as some of our group didn't fancy the subway trip to little Italy. It was a little more expensive than the type of restaurant I eat in on a regular basis from about $30 per head each time ,including a starter but no drinks. the food was very nice and the service was attentive but not... We went here on our first day in New York for lunch whilst waiting for our hotel room to be ready. We walked past and a guy was just leaving the restaurant said to us "you must eat here it's one of the best Italian restaurants in New York!" So we thought we better try it! The restaurant has a... When we saw the name we assumed a French restaurant, but the menu was Italian. The inside was Italian styled but with French pictures on the wall. Don't know if it was an Italian or French restaurant. The food was average, the atmosphere poor. I won't go back

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
