Many people on the upper Eastside treat this restaurant as their second dining room. The food is excellent and the service gracious and attentive. Their tagliatelle Bolognese is the best that I've ever had and that includes in Rome. Same thing for their vitello tonnato. Perfect medallions cooked medium rare arranged in a circle with the sauce in the middle.... More

We stopped for brunch with friends and daughters. The MET is super close walking distance to this restaurant. Everything wonderful. Had Avocado egg toast and pancakes. All delicious. Perfect place to stop on the upper east side.

Great coffee bar when you want good coffee and pastries. I had the egg & veggie frittata which was just the right size for something hearty and yet light for breakfast.

Chandellers, staff in pink complete with bow ties.. this high end cafe is in a social whirl. Food wise breakfast favourites with Italian twist scrambled eggs with shaved parmessan and vine roasted tomatoes.. if you a pastry fan you wont be disappointed. Like the neighboured chic yet not overly fussy..

Last minute plans led us to sant ambroeus. Although very pricey food was exceptional. Soup was good, bot pasta was great. Eggplant parmesan was best. Ever. Flavor was perfection. Each bite like heaven. Had cappuccino and cookies to finish. Both excellent. Not a fan of Italian cookies but these were delicious.

I have enjoyed dining here several times. Wonderful for lunch after a visit to the MET. It is upscale, but food is well worth it. Desserts are to die for, as well as the savory menu. I have enjoyed breakfast and lunch here, wonderful experiences. Pasta out of this world, and best lattes I have had in the city! The... More

Shortly after the original Sant Ambroeus opened its doors in Milan in 1936, a devoted following emerged. This celebrated pasticceria and confetteria became the meeting place for the local intelligentsia, whether beginning their day with Sant Ambroeus’s legendary cappuccino and cornetto, savoring panini at lunch, or spending their evening enjoying refined cuisine in the restaurant’s elegant dining room. We translated these old-world sensibilities of Sant Ambroeus to modern times, and imported our rich culinary traditions to New York. Each of our restaurants remains authentic to our Milanese origins, and we continue to serve our culturally inspired delectables in a casual yet elegant environment.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
