Azusa is a good place to go for lunch for sushi or cooked food. Everything is well prepared and fresh. Service is efficient, so you can finish within an hour or hour and a half. This is not the place to have a three hour lunch. However, the atmosphere is perfect for business or a quick lunch with friends. Salmon... More

In the heart of midtown, a reasonably priced authentic Japanese option. The sushi was fresh and delicious, service was friendly, menu was quite varied (tempura options, sushi, various bento-style). The lunch special looked very good and was quite reasonably priced - next time we will try that...

As usual, the shrimp shumai was excellent as well as the array of fried skewers of eggplant and shiitake mushrooms. The sashimi is fresh and the portions are large. Order fresh, sweet pineapple as dessert - great way to end a delicious meal.

What a surprise. We went to Azusa on a recommendation from a friend. Heart of the city and a real surprise in terms of decor. It is like stepping into a traditional Japanese restaurant and the owner is a great host. The food was superb and the prices were a delight. A must visit. And please ignore the reviews that... More

We found this great sushi restaurant by chance, when we were walking on the 44th Street. After taking a quick look at the menu, we went in. And we felt so lucky to have found this place. All staff seemed to be Japanese, which really meant excellent service. The food was delicious and there is quite a bit of choice... More

Taken here for lunch by a friend. It was busy and we were the only westerners in the place which I saw as a good sign. We all had the set lunch for $20 which we all thoroughly enjoyed.

I have made over 30 trips to Japan, and eaten in hole in the walls, to the best Japan can offer. So with that as background . The Sushi was fine not great, the Sukiyaki was terrible, it came pre cooked. In Japan my experience was that it was served as a hot broth, and you cook the ingredients yourself... More

This is my favorite Japanese restaurant in Midtown and I've been to many. They have an amazing selection of seasonal sushi and change a special menu all the time. It has a very loyal Japanese following is a hidden gem it's been there for many years but most people cannot discovered it. I highly recommended for lunch or dinner you... More

The set menu is what I usually go for which changes by the day. Not my first sushi choice. Diverse menu with many options.

Although the nice personnel was very nice and gentle ... Sushi and sashimi was mediocre. You can find better Japanese restaurants in the city

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
