My wife and I have wanted to try Korean BBQ for quite a while. I am very glad that we made The New Wonjo restaurant our choice. We ordered the beef combo platter. The beef arrived with marbeling rivaling Kobe beef. Our server cooked the beef for us and made us feel comfortable with the whole process, which we appreciated.... More

The restaurant is divided into 2 sections - upstairs is the popular Korean BBQ and downstairs serves set meals and al carte dishes. Went to New Wanjo twice, the first time to try their BBQ, which is good but nothing to shout about although the staff helping us to barbecue the food was very efficient and polite. We tried the... This is one of my favorite Korean BBQ spots in Manhattan. It does get very crowded and loud so it is not the best place for a quiet, relaxed meal. The service is solid and professional but don't expect friendly banter as it is so busy. All the food is solid and the side dishes they provide are numerous as... More

We were a group of four trying Korean food for the first time. When we walked in there was a waiting line, mostly for the BBQ hot plate upstairs, we went for the normal table downstairs. Since this was our first time eating Korean we didn't know what we were ordering. We would have liked that the waiter would have... More

I have eaten here three times.Twice downstairs where you order off the menu and once upstairs for the flaming hot BBQ with a group of friends. All three times were very good. You may need to have a taste palate that is willing to explore different flavors if going for the first time because the little side dishes that they bring... More

I enjoyed lunch today by having the spicy pork with vegetables that was served with rice and a medley of side dishes. Prices are reasonable, especially from the lunch menu. Service was quick and friendly.

Very good Korean BBQ offerings. We tried the combination platter so had a good sampling of four dishes. Sevice was appropriately attentive in this very busy restaurant and sides are all we have come to expect from this type of restaurant. If you like hustle and bustle and a good level of background noise then this is one to recommend.... More

Lively, fun and authentic -- one of the few places that still uses charcoal briquettes for cooking. Crowded early in the evening, but easier to get a table later. Definitely make a reservation, but be prepared for a short 15 minute wait. The beef and pork struck me as better than the chicken, but this seems a matter of taste.... More

Great fun! We love the bustle and commotion of Koreatown barbeque and the food is good to boot. New Wonjo's a little bit better than others on 32nd street in our opinion, partly because they use real charcoal grills at your table instead of electric or gas - with excellent hoods so your clothes don't smell like smoke - and... We dined here for lunch after a visit to Empire State Building today with our three children including baby in high chair. I've wanted to try Korean food for a long time and I was not disappointed. This restaurant is busy, but we got a seat immediately around 1.30pm today. I tried bibimbop, kimchi and it was perfect. Fussy 10... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
