My girlfriend and I wanted to delve into some new cuisine so we stumbled upon an Afghan restaurant and thought this would definitely meet our quota. We were impressed from the start, with the restaurant's owner being highly attentive and welcoming. The atmosphere is friendly and cosy, with images of Afghanistan on the walls. It really made me feel like... More

Ariana is just around the corner. We order delivery via grubhub. (They also accept Seamless.) They're always prompt and the food is delicious. I'm especially fond of the spinach samusa and the bolonee qandana, a turnover filled with leeks (though actually they use scallions); you can get it with meat, but I usually don't. The kebobs are excellent; the beef... More

This is one of tiniest restaurants I have been to, but mighty in tasty and flavorful dishes. We have been here before and will go back. This time we had the pastries with potato and spices, and beef with spices, as appetizer. Crisp fillo-type dough, hot and crunchy, served with yogurt. Melting in one's mouth, they were 'destroyed' very fast.... More

Kadoo Boulanee, Firnee, Kabobs and more served by owner with a sense of humor, welcoming atmosphere. Always come here when in NYC and feel at home, satisfyingly fed.

Started with manto appetizer -- can't even identify the delicious combination of herbs -- with just a touch of heat, in perfect dumplings, enhanced by a tangy sauce recommended by Raffi, your ever-present owner/waiter. The pumpkin curry over rice was just the right mix of sweet and spice. The custard topped with pistachios was a perfect light end to a... More

A homey, laid back restaurant with delicious food. We shared the Mantu appetizer - delicious. You must order this. The black tea with cardamom was warm and inviting. I had a chicken shish kebab dish with delicious long grained rice decorated with carrots and raisins. My only complaint was that the chicken could have been more tender. We were served... More

This place was recommended and I'm really glad we went. The restaurants decor reflects origins of the owner and is really interesting. The owner served at the tables and he was very friendly. We shared a starter of aubergine and yogurt, then had lamb with spinach and lamb kebabs, both served with salad and rice. The food was really tasty... More

On last year's trip to India I tried Afghani food and loved it. There are no Afghani restaurants at home, so I was looking forward to this NYC visit and Ariana did not disappoint! The food was excellent. The service was excellent. We even bought some hot sauce to bring home with us. I'd like to visit again (or convince... More

Had a lovely meal on the recommendation of the waiter. We had the complete meal for two. Beautiful flavours and plenty of food. Enjoyed the happy tea afterwards!

We visited with our daughter and goddaughter who are tweens. We all enjoyed the food but also the atmosphere snd the service. On the walls are displayed some pretty interesting and unique folk art pieces. The food was excellent!

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
