Walked in off the street with a good friend with no knowledge of the food quality/service. Female wait staff was attentive. No alcohol available; BYOB. Ordered eggplant boorani, ribeye steak, and cauliflower dish. Food taste/amount served is excellent. Quiet atmosphere, muted music over speakers in ceiling.

We enjoyed out meal and the service at Afghan Kebab House. We did not have appetizers only because we weren’t that hungry. I had the Palan Sabei and it was very good, my partner had the Combo Kebab and he enjoyed it. Both came with rice that was awesome, both also came with salad on the plate which didn’t seem... More

I've been going to this cafe for at least 15 years, it's in my 'hood, and it is CONSISTENTLY DELICIOUS!! Fresh, never pre-prepared, aromatic, flavorful….the best! A real plus to keep expenses down is that they do not serve alcohol, though when you arrive with your bottle(s), they're quick to bring you glasses. My ongoing fav is their Spicy Fish... More

A smallish place on busy 9th avenue which has been around for 20 years. Their rice is full of fragrance and their best dishes are Lamb, Beef and Shrimp on skewers which are delicately flavored and are served with rice. Afghan bread and salad. Hot sauce of two different kinds is great! A meal costs about $20 a head and... More

Just to update a review from last year. It appears that changes have been made (new point of sale system), updated decor, cloth tablecloths. And it appears that there are new owners??, at least a new crew out front. The food was CLOSE to our many previous visits. Our usual dish was a little dryer and less spicy (but you... More

This was our last meal in NYC. We were trying to find an interesting place to eat for our last meal and this place didn't have many people in it, so we decided to try it. We all ordered the kebabs and the meals were all great. They came with a salad, rice, and Afghan bread. You couldn't order alcoholic... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
