This is the 2nd visit and the same bad experience...Staff not accommodating without effort on our part..cafeteria atmosphere..Food is marginal and NO value for the dollar and then to top it all off as in all NYC establishments they refuse to split up the check as to 2 couples. Good thing we did as we discovered multiple charging of orders... More

We were so excited to dine here at this iconic restaurant in the beautiful Grand Central Station. We have heard it is a New York institution of sorts, but sadly it did not live up to its reputation. We came for lunchtime on a Saturday around 3pm. First impressions were good as we were shown quickly to our table, despite... More

We had a wonderful meal here! I would suggest going at an "off" time - they can get really busy. Just be patient and enjoy the surroundings of a 104 year old establishment.

Great atmosphere! We got a table for 7 right away. It was very busy & our waiter was a bit slow. My husbands food came long after the rest of us had finished. We would have ordered more drinks if they would have came to our table more. But the food & drinks tasted fabulous!

When I was in the area the other day, I decided to drop in for a late afternoon snack of oysters and clams on the half shell, plus a glass of prosecco. I'd not been to this place in well over a decade. Looks the same as I remembered it! Great oyster bar. Very old school. Cool French waiter behind... More

We always visit this restaurant at least once while in NYC. It is always worthwhile. Great food quality, choice of beverages, value, and service in a bistro like atmosphere.

Visited this restaurant over thanksgiving. Very busy so allow time to fully experience this restaurant. The elder lady who served us was efficient, knowledgeable and appeared to be value our custom. I believe she is retiring soon after 38 years of working there. The food is fresh and locally sorced. The drinks menu is vast and will cater for most... More

Walk back in time when you walk in. We like to sit in the saloon area. It's old school, in the best way possible. The menu has traditional eats. Fresh and delicious. But the reason to go is to get a taste of what long gone days were like. Service was courteous. We had old and young staff help us... More

So often overlooked, this is an excellent restaurant. I've had the oysters and clams most recently, all were terrific and fresh. Also, they have some great regular fish entrees. The wine bill can add up but it's still decent value considering the quality and location. Service is efficient with old fashioned waiters.

Grand Central Oyster Bar is the ultimate experience for any seafood. Lover. From the market to your plate, we've spent nearly a hundred years perfecting our seafood dishes. Every morning, the chef goes to the New Fulton Fish Market to personally pick the day's freshest seafood. Everything from lobster to different kinds of fish is hand-picked for the best flavor and freshness. We're most famous for our oysters though, with over 30 different varieties on any given day. Have your dishes prepared minimally, or choose to have your meal in the form of a po' boy. Whatever floats your boat. To go with your Oysters, our extensive wine list has over 400 wines by the glass or bottle, 55 of which are priced under $38. We love sharing our great seafood, so we like to keep everything, including our prices, accessible. Come in for our Happy Hours (menu on website), where you and your friends can pick up some fresh food and drinks at prices so good it's fishy! Across our restaurant we have more than 450 tables across two dining rooms. Traditional experiences are supplemented by our saloon, which features a large bar. Instead, you could choose to sit at Oyster Bay, where you can watch your Oysters being shucked. The Grand Central Oyster Bar has always been a social experience, bustling with buzz, activity and a rich history. There is truly nowhere else like it!

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
