We hadn't been here in years and stopped in last month just before they closed for renovations. The interior was just as charming and romantic as it was 20 years ago, and is one of the few bargains left in the neighborhood. We ordered the prix fixe lunch, which included soup, scallops, lobster salad, and hamburgers, plus lovely desserts. The... More

It is multi level restaurant with a nice atmosphere. It is a Jean George restaurant. It has prix fix menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The place is dark and there is only one area upstairs by the front windows that is a bit brighter(for brunch). It is ideally located near Bloomingdales, a short 4 blocks so if one wants... More

One of our favorite restaurants - delicious authentic French food at reasonable bistro prices without the haughty attitude. But you'll have to wait until they reopen. Btw - the famous chef is Jean George, may as well spell it correctly if you're going to comment about his work.

JoJo was a delight. We had lunch there. Three course meal was $38 and we were lucky enough to get a table upstairs by the window Lots of choices on menu and portions were a nice size., The service was excellent. The restaurant will be closed for renovations until early next year.

JoJo has great fine dining ambience, service, and excellent cuisine. The Autumn four course for $68 was very very good. The wine prices are nyc restaurant standard, but the selection is rather small. Unfortunately, JoJo is closing Oct 16 for three months of remodeling which is reported to change the fine dining ambience to a 'modern' millennial presence (eg, white... More

Do not bother to go to this restaurant. Jon George is a brilliant chef, and love his other restaurants, but this restaurant is the forgotten soul. Dated interior, suffocating service...someone was by to ask how things were about every 5 minutes. We started out fairly well, with bread and warm olives. My son and I had the autumn menu (fixed... The title of my review gives some idea of the setting. Jojo is a nice nouveau French bistro. So here's the good - nice decor, "cozy" (the quotes are a hint of the bad), romantic - sort of, food was creative and quite good. Wife had the fixed price vegetarian meal - excellent tomato bisque, really good roasted tofu -... More

John George's very first New York restaurant still gives and gives. Exquisite cuisine, service and style. While on the high end cost wise, you get a lot for your money. And, oh so delicious! Two of the 4 of us diners ordered the Autumn menu which had 4 courses, including dessert. Very attentive service. See photos below: Mouth watering!!!

it is located in the brownstone, and intimately decorated. Service, food and drinks are VERY good. Staff is pleasant and attentive. We order a few appetizers and 1 main-course for 3 people and it was not too much food, a piece of each for 1 but it was delicious!

Thank Irene N

JoJo offers relaxed yet elegant dining on two floors of a quaint, turn-of-the-century brownstone on the Upper East Side. The first of Jean-Georges’ restaurants in New York City, this neighborhood gem opened in 1991 to rave reviews. It was voted best new restaurant of the year by Esquire magazine and has retained its three-star status from the New York Times for 21 years. Regarding the name, JoJo was Chef Jean-Georges’ nickname as a young boy. Jojo is a hospitable setting for a casual dinner, special occasion, or private party. Guests can feel comfortable in jeans or in evening attire. The contemporary French menu still features some well-loved original dishes, including the Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
