Say yes to dessert! The big bowl of hot chocolate is just what you need on a chilly October night. The hot fudge Sunday is as pretty to look at as it is delicious to eat.

Nestled in a small storefront on Greenwich Avenue in the West Village rests one of the best eateries of its kind. We now make it a point to have dinner here at least twice a month. Although we both have our favorites among the menu...More

Many years ago, my husband and I lived in Chelsea, and often had lunch or dinner at Elephant & Castle. This week, we were in NY for a part-business trip, part-holiday, walked around the Village and came across ‘our’ old place. The food, service and...More

Small restaurant. Great location. Felt fortunate to get a table at 1pm on a Sunday without a wait. My dining companion had the Spanish coffee which is made with pet milk and comes out in a small bowl. I had coffee envy! Food was good....More

Place is small and cozy, very quiet. We ordered Scottish salmon and beef. The salmon was incredible. You can see the cooking point in the picture. With one beer and one water we paid $70. Worth every penny.

Reliably good food, well-prepared and fresh. Omelets and hamburgers are unbeatable and the servers somehow manage to do everything with a warm smile. It's a great neighborhood place. On my first visit 20 years ago, a casually-attired bridal party were having a celebratory lunch in...More

In the late 1970s and early '80s I used to visit NYC (before I moved here) and I often ate at the Elephant & Castle on Prince Street. To me it was the epitome of a pleasant, modest, downtown restaurant: friendly and sophisticated, not trendy...More

West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the
West Village is one of the city’s most coveted
addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and
cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture,
this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You
won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan.
Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to
get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you
