This was by far the most terrible meal that I have had in the past half a year (yes, this includes my ex-mother-in-law's cooking). To sum it up; the state of the bathroom (worthy of an old European subway in the country) reflects the entire culinary experience. For example, their signature steak and frites tasted re-heated and sadly rare medium... More

We chose this for a "special occasion" dinner on a recent trip to NYC. The food here was wonderful, especially the salmon and the creme brulee (which were both textbook perfect). Helpful but unobtrusive wait staff, and not outrageously expensive for a French restaurant. Two people (with dessert but without wine) can eat for $100.

Anthony Bourdain may not be around anymore, but Les Halles has maintained his standards: Delicious, simple food with the right amount of punch to distinguish itself and make it worth the price. When my wife asked me where I wanted to eat when we flew in to New York for the weekend, I knee-jerk answered "Les Halles". Her answer: "Don't... More

I came here looking to grab a quick bite to eat and finish up some paperwork, thinking it would be like every other French restaurant in the city... I was SO wrong. The bartender Lazaros was so personable and attentive and recommended the truffle deviled eggs, which were out of this world & was still super attentive even though I... More

This used to a reliable spot for both food and ambience. A Parisienne bistro relocated to a Downtown New York street. We tried to go one night in October and it was closed. No note on the door. Nothing definitive on the web site. After LH reopened we gave it a shot. It was devoid of the atmosphere it had... More

Tuesday-Friday 3-7 is their happy hour, $1 oysters & clams, $2 shrimp, $5 draught beer & $7 house wine. We happened to be walking by on a very cold Thursday night around 5:30ish and ducked in for a quick drink and ended up staying awhile. My husband had a couple of drafts which was a good deal. We ordered 2... More

Was not o rely hungry so did some bar snacks. Did the escargot (ok, no cheese), pomme frites with cheese (bland, luke warm and unsalted) and a chicken empanada. Rather tasty, but if that is the. Eat in a French restaurant, that has to be concerning

The good: * Seated quickly * Attentive service and entrees delivered quickly (two steaks frite) The bad: * Almost none of the dessert wines on the menu were available. Nothing was on offer but port, which is very strange for a french-style restaurant. * Background music was someone's free spotify account, adverts and all! It's also pretty pricey, but this... More

We went to Les Halles on John st in NYC. The place was as old as could be; my wife, who is 72, said that she had eaten in many such places. The place was empty and we had a reservation, which wasn't there. The hostess seated us anyway. The service was brisk, the salads and fries were fine, but... More

Having just come back from a trip to Paris I was missing French food, when my friend who is Parisian suggested we go to Les Halles for lunch (his favorite French restaurant). We arrived around 12:15 on a Wednesday and there were plenty of tables (although it was packed by 1 PM, so come early). I had the Mignon de... More

Les Halles Downtown enjoys a very central location between City Hall, Wall Street and the Fulton Street Market. Its menu, similar to the original Les Halles, is casual French and inspired by the small Parisian brasseries and cafes. It includes many sandwiches and salads. The establishment is comprised of two rooms: one lively around the long bar and a quieter room that can be closed off for private events.
