This is a small, charming Turkish eatery on Manhattan's Upper East Side. The four of us began with the Vegetarian Platter including Yalanci Dolma (vine leaves stuffed with rice, onions, and pine nuts), Spinach Tarator (spinach, strained yogurt, garlic, and minced walnuts), Humus, Fasulye Pilaki (braised white kidney beans, scallions, tomato, and garlic), and Patlican (eggplant salad, garlic, yogurt, and... My adult daughter and I had dinner here and were pleased that we did. The seating is crowded since there is a fairly small space (as restaurants go) in which to fit small tables, generally for two diners, although the tables can be joined to accommodate a larger group. Service was prompt and pleasant, although not as attentive as one... More

Small restaurant that was highly recommended by friends, unassuming from the exterior. Very nice menu at reasonable prices. Everything I ordered came very fresh and hot.

This was the go to Turkish restaurant in this neighborhood since the late 1980s until A La Turka opened up on 74 the and 2nd. Unfortunately it has not kept up the spirit of the original owners. The present proprietor, who has served me many times, is not friendly to the customers. He is not rude, just affectless and this... More

I was locked out of my apartment and had to wait until my husband got home. I decided to go to Uskudar for dinner while I waited. Best decision! I waited for 40 minutes before my husband joined and the staff did not bother me at all as I sipped on wine. They were incredibly understanding which I appreciated. When... More

We have eaten here several times over the past few years when we visit New York. We have never been disappointed . The lamb is superb; this time we had the tandir, which was moist and well seasoned. Other favorites are the koban salad and, of course for desert, the kreme caramel and rice pudding. They also have some good... More

By arriving early we were able to get a table without a reservation. Food was excellent and there was no pressure to buy drinks or wine. Service was attentive, and dessert of apricots with cream and almonds hit the spot.

Excellent food. Very friendly staff that go out of their way to feel at home. Celebrated my 60th birthday in style. Attentive staff. Highly recommended.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
