My husband celebrated a special birthday here with family members. The bar/lounge area had a warm fire going on a chilly, wet night it April that was very welcoming. Family members had planned a pre-set personally selected tasting menu for us that was unquestionably the best meal I have ever enjoyed! It was spectacular from start to finish. We began... More

Went there with the wife to celebrate our anniversary. Very nice atmosphere, nice bar with fireplace and a few low tables that are very comfortable. Beautifully appointed and the service was first rate, very attentive and not intrusive. We each had the octopus appetizer, my wife had the monkfish and I had the veal chop. Let me just say that... My review could be summed up in 2 words - very disappointing. The hubby and I have come to One If By Land several times over the past 15 years and it has always been consistently good. Now, it is run by children. The quality and the service is sub par. As you all know, I am not afraid to... More

Research this restaurant and you will find out its rich history , its cool location and that it drips with romance but on this particular night they dropped the ball . I called way in advance to book a romantic table as it was my 25th wedding anniversary . We arrived a half hour early so that we could have... More

We booked this restaurant to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary which also happens to be on Valentine's day ... I booked from the UK having researched many restaurants but finally choosing one if by land as it seemed to have everything we wanted for our special trip . I really wanted to come away saying it was fantastic and worth... More

This building has a long history, and years ago I used to come more often, so the restaurant has a certain amount of history with us. Our group of four was seated at a table overlooking the courtyard garden. The high ceilings, chandeliers and the beautiful windows are gorgeous and the ambience is still the same - very romantic. As... More

I have been to One if by Land many times over the past 20+ years and historically it has been one of my favorites (especially in winter when the fireplaces are glowing), but i took my family to dinner there this past Sunday evening and the food was just awful. We should have been tipped off when we were told... More

Seems wrong rating this "average" given the quality of food, which was excellent. But I gave it quite a bit of thought. We came here on a Friday evening for a birthday meal. The good: Greeted by a very friendly lady (manager I guess?) who confirmed that she was able to meet my request for a quiet table by the... More

My sister and I had dinner (4 course) the day before Valentines. There were plenty of choices within the menu for both of us (and they dealt easily with my shellfish allergy). Beautiful dining area down stairs, with views of the garden. I recommend requesting a downstairs room if possible. The Signature drinks are interesting and very good, but a... More

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
