I have lived in Harlem my entire life and never went to Sylvia’s because other people said the flavor was watered down for the tourists. No sir! It was sooo delicious, I’ve gone twice I had the fried pork chops and the smothered. They were...More

My family and I stopped by here to eat at the recommendation of a bus driver. It was the best southern food I’ve had not in the south. My sister had an issue with the smell of collard greens. So the staff was kind enough...More

The service was great, Jasmine was on top of it! The food was good. I ordered ribs, I would suggest to put the sauce on the side. The greens were really good, but the macaroni and cheese were dryer then we like it to be.

Second visit after 5 years and must say this time I left very disappointed. Whilst service was still warm & friendly and the fried chicken retained its reputation, the rest of menu was disappointing. The pork ribs were prepared well but the sassy sauce was...More

While we're glad you could come back for a meal with us, we're disappointed that the rest of your meal wasn't as amazing as the chicken. It sounds like we may have missed the mark, but we can assure you this isn't typical. Hope you...More

Was visiting NYC with friends from England and had to visit Sylvia's for chicken and waffles. In the end, I devoured the chicken and waffles, which were well worth the trip from Manhattan (Technically England!) And the ribs were brilliant. Yes, I had two mains...More

We were here in NYC for my son’s 21st birthday. Sylvia’s was on our list of recommended places. Perfect accompaniment to follow Gospel Mass which we had enjoyed too. We all loved the iconic fried chicken and waffles and the Bloody Marys were, well, damn...More

We started our Harlem food and cultural tour at Sylvia's. Great choice for exploring the history and culture of Harlem -- let alone the cuisine. What a revelation to realize that perfectly prepared grits could be THAT tasty -- pillowy soft, fine texture, savory with...More
