I'm foodie, travel across the world for food. Having read a lot about Sylvia's restaurant & was also recommended by our walking tour guide. I decided to give the restaurant a try & got my friend to join me for their Sunday gospel brunch. Service staff were inattentive but orders came very quickly. We soon find out the restaurant is... A little pricey, but hey, it's NY! Very busy establishment, excellent wait staff and the food was delectable! If you love southern home cooking then this is your place! I had chicken and dumplings, oh my, just like my aunt made. Best sweet tea ever, keep refilling, no charge. Homemade everything!

To know we were on par with some family cooking is high praise -- and nothing quite completes a meal like sweet tea. Here's hoping you'll be able to join us for another meal sometime soon! All the best, Sylvia's More

We are from a small town in NC. We had some folks tell us not to go but thank goodness we didn't listen. We had hot biscuits, waffles, fried chicken, slab bacon, and a side of grits. The waffle was so light, the fried chicken was "to die for", bacon fried just right, and the grits were perfect.

We had already been here last year for my sister's birthday and had a blast! And came back on our next trip for lunch after church. We were immediately seated, no wait at all!!! My husband and my cousin celebrated their birthdays, so the very nice singer who entertained us guests sang a nice and loooong happy birthday for them... More

I love coming ro Harlem and make it my business to get to Sylvia's a few times during my visit. This time, just not worth it. I don't know if staff changes, cooks changed or what, but the food taste like it was straight out of the can. I've been coming for years so this was a real disappointment. My... More

What a brilliant night My wife booked a last minute table at Sylvia's for my 50th Birthday and she couldn't have booked a better place for us to celebrate. From walking through the front door until leaving we were made to feel as if we were the only people in the restaurant. The waitress heard that it was my birthday... More

Visiting in New York, my husband and I decided to take the subway to Harlem and visit the famed Sylvia's Restaurant. I had not eaten here in several decades, so I was anxious to see if anything had changed. My husband ordered the catfish, while I had the meatloaf. Beware: The portions were quite generous and delicious! So, you will... More

We were glad to have you back after all these years. Between the catfish and the meatloaf, you both made some great choices -- it's also awesome to know things were just as good as you remembered! Here's hoping you'll be able to make it back again before too long. Cheers, Sylvia's More

Having been to Sylvia's before, I was anxiously looking forward to returning for some of her home-made macaroni and cheese and bar-b-que chicken. I learned more of the history of Sylvia's and the story of how she bought the place when she was just a server and worked non-stop for over a year straight to pay her parent's back the... More
