Not so easy to find but what a gem - old, used and very New York Jewish. A real gem, the Knishes melt in the mouth....get to it before it gets swept away ....!

The knish......a baked dough with many different fillings. Traditionally potato or kasha, but now in many varieties (sweet potato) for younger palates. Just the best. Nothing else to say. One of the few remaining places to get a real egg cream or lime rickey. A...More

I am from Mobile Alabama, and have only heard of what Great Knishes are supposed to be. OMG, this is my new favorite food. I can not imagine another knish being better than this. Thank u Andrew Kimmern for your show and this recommendation -...More

We had an original potato knish and an egg cream drink. Knish was tasty. Egg cream drink is a sweet treat that reminded me of a Cadbury chocolate egg, just a tad less sweet.

I didn’t knew ‘a knish’ before I started reading about NYC. Had my doubts about something made mostly from potatoes. But this was very delicious. Small place near Russ & Daughters, lady at counter explained friendly which one she had that they.

Wanted the authentic Knish and found it at Yonah Shimmel. Tried the potato which was yum, like eating a block of mashed postie. The bakery is very small but not crowded and there's alway room to be knished .
