This is a lovely restaurant, with excellent food, and an extremely friendly and witty staff. The food is classic French cuisine at its finest.

Four of us had dinner here. They did not try to turn the table, and we had lots of time. We had individual glasses of wine which were good but not inexpensive at $16-17. Salmon was good, coq-au-vin excellent and lamb quite good. Desserts are good, but again fully priced. Seemed to have a strong following of repeat customers and... More

This is a neighborhood restaurant that comes up on everyone's "best" list for the Sutton Place area and now we know why. Cozy and inviting on a winter night. Four diners, three main dish choices - each was top notch, as were salads first courses. We were offered tastes of wine by the glass options, a nice touch and led... More

Christmas Eve with friends, a long from Australia...why not French? And why not a very good French restaurant in NY? Delicious! A small amuse bouche that got the taste buds dancing. M salmon for appetizer was beautifully seasoned with a hint of citrus. My friend's onion soup was excellent. My Duck confit with bean cassoulet was passable, but not as... More

My husband and I travel to NYC regularly and always stop for dinner at mangeoire. Last nite was a big disappointment. The waitress was not friendly to the point of rudeness she took no time with us at all. Mashed potatoes were stone cold. My husband did not finish his steak and it was packed up with a plastic bag... This is a small and cozy bistro in Midtown. The food is fine, but doesn't worth the money they charge. There is one exception though: French onion soup. It's the best I've ever eaten (and I go to France every year). It costs $18, but if you like this soup, go there. Foie gras terrine was also good. If I'll... More

This is an OK French restaurant.Really a bistro with much higher prices and less approachable food. A lot of fish on the menu but none of it particularity well prepared. Service is prompt, the wine list is appropriately priced, but something is missing in the food preparation as nothing is memorable in a positive sense. A number of years ago,... More

La Mangeoire is a neighborhood french restaurant with a comfortable "jeans welcome" feel. The staff, chef, atmosphere all welcome you. And the food does not require a french dictionary. Try anything on the menu for good to excellent bites. But, for world class, don't miss the onion soup.

I have been wanting to try this place for a long time now and finally made it. Reason I have rated it average is I had higher expectations when it comes to food with moderately priced entree. As I would have rated it between good /average but not very good that's all. They do have a decent wine collection no... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
