My husband and I travel to NYC regularly and always stop for dinner at mangeoire. Last nite was a big disappointment. The waitress was not friendly to the point of rudeness she took no time with us at all. Mashed potatoes were stone cold. My husband did not finish his steak and it was packed up with a plastic bag... This is a small and cozy bistro in Midtown. The food is fine, but doesn't worth the money they charge. There is one exception though: French onion soup. It's the best I've ever eaten (and I go to France every year). It costs $18, but if you like this soup, go there. Foie gras terrine was also good. If I'll... More

This is an OK French restaurant.Really a bistro with much higher prices and less approachable food. A lot of fish on the menu but none of it particularity well prepared. Service is prompt, the wine list is appropriately priced, but something is missing in the food preparation as nothing is memorable in a positive sense. A number of years ago,... More

La Mangeoire is a neighborhood french restaurant with a comfortable "jeans welcome" feel. The staff, chef, atmosphere all welcome you. And the food does not require a french dictionary. Try anything on the menu for good to excellent bites. But, for world class, don't miss the onion soup.

I have been wanting to try this place for a long time now and finally made it. Reason I have rated it average is I had higher expectations when it comes to food with moderately priced entree. As I would have rated it between good /average but not very good that's all. They do have a decent wine collection no... More

Although booked a late table (9:30) and everyone else was drinking their coffees when we arrived they were very welcoming. Had hoped to sit on the pavement as it was a lovely, hot summers evening (it looked perfect on their website) but switched to inside table as 2nd Avenue is very busy, therefore noisy and full of fumes with the... This was my first visit to this long-established restaurant, recommended by my hotel (the excellent Hotel Elysée). The meal was brunch and I was offered the choice for my scrambled eggs - unusual in the US - for hard, medium or soft. The came soft, and delicious, quite a good test for a kitchen. When talking to a manager, I... More

To start, I'd like to thank the proprietor, Gérard, who is a kind, competent gentleman. It was his thoughtful, laid-back demeanor that ultimately led to our choosing his restaurant to host a party for 35 of us. The staff was clearly hard working, and very pleasantly accommodating to our needs. They also made sure our drinks were full. The prix... More

Rustic old french interior Wine: cote de nuits (nice balance though relatively young) Young lettuce salad (very simply made, a salad like your mother did with fresh crispy salad, chopped echalottes and a plain vinegrette) Roasted pork: Well cooked tender meat Little mushrooms with a vinegar boost Very good diced potatoes Calvados: honest Overall a simple hearthy french food

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
