We had the Chefs menu. The food is imaginative and from a style of cuisine that isn't that common here. We go every time we come to New York. The quiet, comfortable, and the service just as you might expect in a Michelin 2 star.

We were able to reserve a romantic dinner for two after the NY Ballet performance. Exquisite tasting menu! We really had a wonderful meal and a once in a lifetime experience. The food was fascinating and was prepared beautifully. Each time the servers served the food they had to explain what it was, what were the ingredients used and it...More

First time eating here and the menu has a strong Scandinavian theme with a choice of a 3 course menu, tasting menu or a la carte. Service excellent & good location between Madison & Park Avenue. Quite pricey but for a special meal or business...More

We had the chef's nine course tasting menu, including several amuse bouche before dinner and dessert. The meal took about three hours. The food was fantastic! A couple of standout dishes were the king crab and green strawberry (who knew green strawberries tasted so good),...More

The restaurant is very stark and modern and I didn't expect to enjoy the round table with swivel chairs, and at first it felt more like an office meeting than a birthday dinner. However, the table was so roomy and the chairs so comfortable I...More

Restaurant Aquavit opened to immediate success in midtown Manhattan in November 1987. More than two decades later, Aquavit continues to be one of New York's most popular and highly esteemed dining destinations. A pioneer on the American dining scene, Aquavit remains the only world-class modern Scandinavian restaurant in the country, and was also the first restaurant in New York to house two concepts under one roof: a casual bistro serving hearty, simple fare and a formal dining room offering refined, modern Scandinavian cuisine. Owner Håkan Swahn has always been involved with every aspect of the business, and his passion and vision are what steer the restaurant. Executive Chef Marcus Jernmark is in the kitchen every day, where his talent and his commitment to quality and authenticity are apparent in every ingredient he purchases and every dish he prepares. Swahn and Jernmark collaborate closely on Aquavit's menus, and together they provide leadership and inspiration to the team at Aquavit.
