I walked past this unassuming looking place, searched it, gave it a go - and it's superb. Obviously well established. Formal waiters but family atmosphere downstairs. Seems the stylish setting is upstairs but I was walk-in and they treated me fine. Lots of regulars and easy going couples. Great great food. Enormous variety of sushi from all over the world.... We have been coming to this restaurant for 30 years. The quality has remained unchanged. We always sit at the sushi bar upstairs. The selection of sushi and sashimi are always wonderful. Many items flown in directly from Japan. The cooked food is also very good. We have eaten all over Japan. This restaurant is definitely authentic. The service is... More

I'm not a sushi eater, but my husband is. I had some trouble finding something, but I had the Edamame, green mixed salad and the Tempura shrimps: everything was very good. The Tempura shrimps was the best I ever had: delicious. Very popular and busy place. Service was very friendly and nice. Will go back again!

Went much more middle of the road with the restaurant week menu. But, the quality and taste were quite good and the service was pleasant and attentive. I enjoyed it.

This is a favorite staple of mine for many years. The service, sushi chefs, and quality of fish, is top notch. You can not go wrong with Hatsuhana. I will warn you, however, that it is on the expensive side, but it's worth it if you want fresh and delicious sushi or sashimi.

If you are looking for fresh and quality sushi, then this is the place to go. The food is worth the price and fish is extremely fresh. Fast and good service. Please make sure you make a reservation as this place is typically packed.

On the basis of quality, this restaurant is a full 5 star. Service is good and the orders arrive fairly quickly despite it being full all the time. It's pricey but that's what you pay for this quality. Top notch fish even on Dec 27/28 when fish supply must be harder to get.

We went to Hatsuhana for lunch the week before Christmas. I had asked for a quiet table, if possible. We arrived, and were promptly shown to a charming table in a back alcove; exactly what I had hoped for. The sushi was superb. We added two pieces of Uni to our lunch order, and accompanied it with a carafe of... More

Hatsuhana was a great experience. The restaurant was relatively busy, but our food came out quickly, and the service was very good. The waiters/waitresses take the time to tell you what each piece of sushi is, and explain a little bit about it. I would absolutely eat here again!

Have been coming to Hatsuhana 48th street for many years. Quality has always been good and high. There used to be a long sushi counter on the ground floor which has now been replaced by seating and tables. Believe the restaurant is facing the winds of change and intense competition and changing spending habits of diners. Service is still generally... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
