….made the spacious, elegant ground-floor rooms of La Grenouille look like the funeral parlour of a fairy princess. Overcoming the extravagant floral fantasy while looking for the body lying in state meant that the excellent food and the attentive and professional service might have been a little overlooked. However, pay close attention to the fully descriptive menu and there are... More

The menu is fixed price at $175 per seat and bottles of wine start about $120. For apps we tried the oysters and salmon and were very happy, truly tasty and 'elevated'. For mains we had dover sole and a Wagyu dish.. we found the fish to be over cooked and tough, the dijon sauce was just ok. The steak... More

Beautiful place! I'm not big on French cuisine (or prices) but this place is worth a visit. I was there with a business associate and he had been there before. Next to the Omni Berkshire so convenient for us. We sat at the bar and had fun with the bartender, who my friend knew. Very sociable time with great appetizers... More

This restaurant needs no review. The food, service and decor are sublime. I had lobster ravioli to start then the quenelles and then ile flottante for dessert. Others had the beef stew and soufflés. Flowers abound in the restaurant. It is a beautiful experience.

We had a great evening there. Classical decorum, beautiful flowers, perfect service. Food was great. Classical French but not specially inventive. We had the tataki of tuna, smoked salmon and foie gras. For entrees, we had the lobster, rack of lamb and the recommended pot au feu of filet mignon & foie gras. I was however disappointed with the way... More

A sublime experience for people who love French food in the grand manner: quenelles de brochet, souffles, perfectly done fish -- everything served perfectly, by waiters who are there when you need them and not when you don't and do not introduce themselves or call you "guys." The flowers are always magnificent. The room, the service everything conspires to make... More

Our first visit here after walking past it for years. The food, wine and service were phenomenal. First courses were a lobster salad special and foie gras terrine followed by Dover sole and a lamb special with two different soufflés for dessert. An incredible experience. Highly recommended.

La Grenouille is French and in NYC--needless to say expensive. But for his birthday my husband wanted white tablecloth, good napkins, good food, good wine, and we got that. Plus they serve savory mini-pastries, bread that crackles when you break it but soft inside, an amuse bouche, delicious cookies, and truffles with coffee, besides the 3 courses. My husband had... One of the few remaining Classic French restaurants in the city. Always decorated so nicely with professionally trained staff. This was our second visit and chose to dine downstairs with a corner booth which allowed for a view of the whole room. The second floor is also very nice but with a different design. We did the pre-theater menu and... More

This place is a notch above the rest. My son always takes me to the best in whatever city we are visiting. This place was so special. The lighting, the roses, the food, the service. On our 4 day trip this place absolutely was my favorite. All courses were amazing, but I think the chocolate soufflé was my favorite. A... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
