While visiting New York, was asked around about great Chinese food. Our hotel staff member said to hop on the train to Chinatown and check out Hop Kee. So, we did and it was delicious! Very quick and friendly service with true authentic Chinese food. Light (not greasy) with amazing flavors! Some things to know before you get there -... More

AMAZING FOOD! First time Ive ever tried snails. Was very skeptical about it because who in their right mind eats snails. Decided to try it and it was amazing. He fried osters were huge amd the shrimp walnuts with white sauce was supreme!. Friendly staff and Anthony Bourdain frequents this place quite often. probably the best Chinese food I have... More

This is authentic Chinese restaurant along Mott street in Chinatown. We have great tasting hot and sour soup, pork chop, watercress in shrimp paste, yang chow fried rice, and pork . Our server is customer-oriented. Be warned though, they are cash only restaurant.

Personally the food here was quite mediocre. I think I've eten better Chinese food. The ambiance in the restaurant is quite and experience, when you go down into the basement you don't know what to expect, and that's the experience. Service is not friendly, tips are more a decision of the person to whom you pay your bill instead of... More

I've been to several restaurants in Chinatown and they basically fall in 2 categories (in my opinion). 1.Tourist places that have big fancy typical restaurant stuff and good to mediocre food for those that walk in and care more about ambience than food. 2. Real eateries catering to the local chinese people. These are the places where you'll see mostly... More

Being a Chinese food fan, it was very hard to decide which restaurant to try in NYC Chinatown. I ended up in this place because I saw it the Anthony Bourdain show. Totally worth it. Service was fast. Food incredibly tasty. I wanted to try so many different things! It was hard to decide what to order!. Would go definitely... More

This is a no frills traditional Cantonese Chinese restaurant. The wait staff is old school... everyone is always busy and working hard. Although it is in downstairs it was bright and airy and busy, both rooms were full. The food is very good; the crab Cantonese is a specialty and the snails. The 1/2 roast duck is a starter but... Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
