Food was great. I'm not a New Yorker, but I am well travelled and these folks could use some customer service training. But then again, you are in New York City, so when in Rome...just dish the attitude back and don't take it personally.

Classic old-school Italian pastry shop with a huge selection. I anticipated having some options but case after case of incredible looking desserts made the selection quite difficult.....so of course we got one of everything. Definitely a place to visit if you love good quality Italian pastries.

We were recommended to go here for the pignolis by a local. They are divine! But still more than 10 USD for 6 rather small cookies are ridiculous. Still it did not stop us from going back and getting more. Would have given 5 stars if not for the price.

Canoli is the best I have had barring homemade. Gelato is good also. Authentic-you won't be dissappointed.

We came here for a cheeky breakfast on our last day in NYC as my Mum wanted to try a cannoli. The range & choice is huge & everything looked beautiful. My daughter hated the chocolate milk as it tasted more liked coffee but the cannoli's were delicious. We also had a chocolate layered cake & it was very yummy.... More

I've been coming here for over 35 years. Everything is delicious, the coffee is good. I tried a Diamond Baci chocolate cake (GF) rather than the usual traditioal Italian goods. The cake was rich, creamy, and delightful.

I was recommended to go to Veneiro by my friend and I checked yelp ratings which were really good but also mentioned that there are always long lines to get in. Surprisingly there were no lines when we went there on a Saturday night, must be because of easter weekend. Once we entered, there was an area for pick up... More

After dinner we 'bounced' here for dessert and were not disappointed! The selection of cakes & pastries is endless, so you will be absolutely spoiled for choice! We finally settled on a vanilla cannoli & the coconut cake. Wow & wow! They were both sensational. The quality of the cream, sponge & coconut in my dessert was second to none,... More

I have been going to Venieros for years. It is my favorite Patisserie. It opened for business in 1894 in Manhattan. You think they're doing something right. If you are a New Yorker or Tourist and have not ventured to Venieros you are at a loss. This Patisserie is a 10 not 5 rated. I Love Their ricotta cheese cake,... More

This is the quintessential New York cheesecake experience. Try the cheesecake with chocolate or raspberry mousse. Service is a little erratic but the taste more than makes up for it.

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
