Manhattan abounds in French bistro restaurants. Veau D'or has been among them for many years, decades I presume, long before most others existed. It's a bit formal without being stuffy. You do know you are Out to Dinner. The dishes are classic. Nothing too new....More

Red banquettes and peach roses on the tables make for a lovely setting, but the food doesn't measure up. Restaurant was mostly empty on a Wednesday night. Poussin with mushrooms presented with style, but not outstanding. Sole was just okay. Wouldn't rush back.

Without a doubt, my most favorite restaurant to visit in NYC. At the very least, the small family trip makes a trip to NYC right before the holidays and our last night out on Saturday MUST be Le Veau D'or. We discovered this small, throw...More

My wife surprised me with my birthday dinner. First, the ambiance was comfortable, quaint and void of textaholics. Stay and enjoy the food, wonderful and person service. Don't rush the experience.

This place is classic old New York. My parents used to go there and my mother wanted to return. The food is nice, but not special and it is rather expensive for what you get. The sauces are little thick. The side vegetables lack imagination....More
