Serendipity often has a ridiculously long wait - we managed to get a table in only 30 minutes by showing up early on a weekday. The food was pretty average but the desserts are incredible.

My daughter made reservations for 10pm. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious! The place is a little pricy but worth it.

Five of us went to Serendipity to celebrate a birthday. What a fun place! All the servers are so friendly. We just had huge sundaes (and I do mean HUGE) and their famous hot chocolate. The drinks would easily feed 2--3 people. We did not like the salted caramel hot chocolate--way too salty, not enough chocolate. Whipped cream without sugar--not... More

The frozen hot chocolate is world famous so this is what brought me here. It did not disappoint. I also had the chicken sandwich which was honestly one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The decor was so fun and inviting. The waiting staff are very friendly. However the manager is so rude! The restaurant gets so busy... More

I think I'm one of the few people who didn't know about this place having not seen the movie. We had to wait 45 minutes to get a table but it was well organized. The upstairs waiters and servers were wonderful and the frozen hot chocolate was a nice treat. The food was good, too. Some of the staff downstairs... More

My group of 4 visited Serendipity on a Sunday evening at about 7:00PM. The hostess told us it would be an hour wait. Luckily a party had just cleared out in the entrance and we were able to wait inside. We only waited for 45 minutes, and it passed relatively quickly as you get to do some people watching as... We tried going here at peak dinner time on a Friday night, and there was a two hour wait. This was on my list of things I really wanted to do in NYC so we decided to try again the next night...at 11:30 PM. No wait this time! We had a very friendly waitress who was obviously used to tourists.... More

My wife visited Serendipity 3 when last in NYC, 5 years ago. We arranged to take all the family on this trip based upon her glowing recommendation. We booked, and I would say that is essential, for diner on Katie's actual birthday. The atmosphere is unique and quirky, with amazing fixtures. We had a table upstairs and had a great... More

If you plans are set for travel to New York City, visit this establishment for frozen hot chocolate as your drink for lunch/dinner. Beware that the lines are long. They will take a limited number of reservations, but you need to make them well in advance. We arrived at the restaurant 45 minutes after it opened for lunch and were... More

Amazing food and ambience. Staff were friendly And the puddings were out of this world. We were lucky and managed to make a booking via email but you can walk in and wait. The puddings and the cold hot chocolate are worth the wait. Can't wait to go back.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
