I love this place and order lunch from Viand usually daily. They have the best sandwiches and service is usually fast and on time. I think it is a little pricey but then again it is located on the Upper West Side of New York.

If you're looking for a typical NYC diner / cafe, this is a place to go. Traditional American food that will fill you up. Very busy, energetic place. Moderately priced. I had a burger and onion rings, while my girlfriend had a healthier choice: blackened catfish. We both very much enjoyed our meals. It is very busy, however, and I... More

We stayed at the Beacon Hotel and had a wonderful breakfast here. (It is right next door). Great service. They even had wine for a late night snack.

We stayed the Hotel Beacon, right next door. We had a great breakfast one day and take out back to our room another. Large diner style menu with freshly prepared food at a nice pace. The turkey club was delicious - best turkey I've ever had in a sandwich! Pleasant staff and reasonable prices make this place great. It's open... More

We ate here on our way out of NYC after a busy weekend at a convention. By some miracle, we were able to park our work vehicle right outside of the restaurant. I got a veggie burger. It was quite tasty, not the standard frozen Gardenburger fare. It was served on some hearty whole grain toast, with a large topping... More

I went to eat @ this Cafe after a concert @ the Beacon Theatre. I had the eggplant parmigiana, which was a decent dish. Nothing to write home about. The service was good. This cafe was nice & clean. This cafe seems to be good for average food & good service.

When we visit NYC, there are several local restaurants that we occasion. Cafe Viand is one of them. At first, it appears to be a small crowded and noisy diner, but I'm always delighted that my first impressions are WRONG! Though it is small, it's not crowded and the seating is comfortable. The staff (interesting, as many of the staff... More

Café Viand is on of the few diners left in this area. The all day breakfasts are hearty and quick. Dinners are pre-theatre and inexpensive for NY
