We recently vacationed in Vienna where we enjoyed great food, and think Cafe Sebarsky is even better. The small dining room is elegant and old worldly. The menu is true. They have a nice selection of half bottles of wine, which we appreciated because we want ed to be awake for the upcoming galery visit. We enjoyed our wurst and... More

Located in the old Vanderbilt mansion on 5th Ave across from the Metropolitan. You are surrounded by world class art. The Goulash Soup is nonpareil. We are in heaven when we are at Cafe Sabarsky.

We were to have a good day at the Neue. We stopped by at the cafe Sabarsky for breakfast. It was not a good start. The hostess did not even notice us standing at the door for a good ten minuets even though there were several empty tables. When approached she reluctantly ushered five of us in and put us... More

This is a lovely Austrian-style cafe that makes you feel as though you are in Vienna, once you arrive inside. The bratwurst is excellent and the potato salad that comes with the wiener schnitzel is delicious. The wiener schnitzel is a bit too dry and bland. Be sure to save room for the desserts and share several if you are... More

We went on Thursday, so Neue Museum was closed, but it was still an excellent choice for a breakfast before starting our museum day in MET (also Guggenheim museum is really close). They have a very interesting Austrian menu full of savory and sweet delicious plates. Portions are generous.

Perfect for an early dose of sugar in a sophisticated environment. Resembling true Viennese cafés, it offers a good choice of gourmet cakes and warm beverages. Its proximity to the Central Park and museums makes it a great spot starting point for your explorations.

We had a very pleasant brunch at Cafe Sabarsky. There was a bit of a wait, bit it wasn't too long and all worth it! The place feels like a flashback to 19th century Austria. The wood panelling and decor are tasteful and authentic, and the service is to match. Equally the food was as good as you would find... More

I was at Cafe Sabarsky today with my girlfriend and we had a great experience. We got linzertorte (delicious), apfel strudel (very good) and sachertorte (decadent), plus two very decent cappuccinos. Definitely worth a visit, though a bit pricey.

The place is well know to lovers of German/Austrian food and indeed it offers an atmosphere as well as good food. The Museum misinforms on line that the cafe is only open to high level of Museum members. No , if there are open tables , they will accommodate everyone -- patience required, sometimes a long standing in the line.... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
