The food is great here. The specials change each day, while the normal great menu remains the same. The wine list is extensive as well. What is special here is the service and the beautiful ambience. In the summer, they open up the doors and you can dine on the terrace. Further, its great for vip watching. A big film... More

Our party of 4 had a very nice meal and experience during the holiday season. Il Cantinori is a small restaurant featuring Tuscan-style cuisine. The kitchen established its Tuscan credentials by offering an amuse bouche of pappa al pomodoro (a traditional Tuscan bread and tomato soup that was one of my wife's favorite dishes during our trip to Italy a... Il Cantinori is, by far, my absolute favorite Italian restaurant in the city. We went for my birthday dinner and had a bit of a rocky start. We arrived early for our 8 pm reservation and they were able to seat us right away however, the woman seated behind me had had too much to drink and knocked a bottle... More

First time at Il Cantinorii. Food and service was superb. Two dinning rooms with a bar in the middle that separates the two. My wife and I shared as a starter the Pappardelle Alla Butterra (home made noodles with crumbled sweet and hot sausage, green peas and a pink sauce) it was excellent. I had for my main the saluted... I'm visiting New York from London, and had booked il cantanori based on the fact we love Italian food, and it seemed to have great reviews. However. If you're in anyway aware f what Italian food is supposed to taste like, this is a no no. An expensive no no! The flavour combinations were completely off. All the food was... More

So you have searched the World for a restaurant where you are immediately Welcomed... Where you feel the presence of the Sunday dinners your Mother prepared with love...Where you can relax and enjoy a remarkable array of Classic Italian dishes. You've been everywhere...but you've been nowhere until you find yourself IL Cantinori!!

It's all in the details. Friendly coat check, helpful server, great bus staff, good pacing, vibrant but not noisy. I could go on... Food was excellent. Veal medallions perfectly prepared, rich and bright with great balsamic counterpoints. Wilted arugula was a pleasant surprise. This appetizer was graciously split for two. Raviloli cooked with cream mushroom sauce were al dente and... More

We were here to celebrate my wife's birthday, and loved the whole experience. Fantastic service, some of the best pastas (I recommend the Pappardelle alla Buttera) I've eaten in a restaurant and a great atmosphere all along. We really enjoyed it a lot. Expensive? Yes, but it was worth it on a special occasion like this.

If you want to get away from the crowds and the crazies in NYC then go here. The food is excellent, the service is superb, the pasta is delicious. Great wine. I really enjoy the atmosphere. I want to go back and eat in the bar on a quiet evening.

I reserved here in advance and glad I did as it was full. It is definitely a locales place which I love to get to the heart of any place. The food arrived quickly and they were really accommodating as we explained we needed to eat quickly as it was 1pm in our heads (from travelling). The risotto was a... More

Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
