I didn't choose this place but went with friends who were familiar with it. Almost everything about my experience here was a disappointment:: seating was cramped - we were a party of 6 sitting in a dark corner, with little to no elbow room. We...More

Stopped here while walking the High Line. We had the most delicious bowl of French Onion Soup. Oh my...so good! Would highly recommend it. The place had a nice decor. The waitress was very friendly. We did think the menu selections were a tad pricey.

We were at the new Whitney, and stopped here for dinner. Very shabby-chic (another reviewer nailed it). I had the fresh oysters, at $16 for a half-dozen, I expected lovely plump bivalves, but they were flat, small, and almost tasteless. For my main, I had...More

Yes it looks like a scary dive bar from 20 years ago but trust me it's not. Hate to let the cat out of the bag. Sometimes you just want to keep your favorite neighborhood secret to yourself. But this place deserves a few more...More

La Lunchonette is located in Chelsea alongside the highline and has the authentic look of a French Bistro circa 1960. The décor is plain, but charming and the service is friendly, but not attentive. For example, my cocktail arrived without ice and when I requested...More

My husband and I took a walk on the Hi-line. It was a very hot day, and when we no longer wanted to walk and were hungry, looked down on 17th and 18th Streets on 10th Avenue and saw there were several places to eat....More

This restaurant was recommended in the guide book and after we had walked the Highline and visited Chelsea Market, this little restaurant which looked a little drab from the outside, proved to be very good. Food was lovely and the waitress was just the right...More

We have been to La Lunchonette about a dozen times. It's like being in Paris at a bistro. The food is delicious. We started with a frisee salad and 1/2 dozen oysters followed by a Beef Bourguignon with a side of potatoes lyonnaise, both of...More
