I love this place. The food and drinks are authentic and amazing. I particularly love the chicken quesadilla. It melts in your mouth. Their drinks are pretty reasonable if you go during happy hour. They put pieces of fruit in their pitcher of frozen margarita....More

Then this here be the place. Free greasy food upstairs. Cheap powerful margaritas everywhere. Come here for happy hour... stay for the hangover.

It looks like Christmas every night at El Cantinero. This popular Mexican restaurant is just off Union Square. It's fun, they serve great margaritas. I had a very good chili relleno and a taco. The food was American Mexican, but very good. Service was efficient....More

This place has been around for as long as I can remember. The people are friendly and the food is great! Compare to a new place on the block the portions are a lot better at this great neighborhood spot.

Good prices, but the food was not quality ... guess you get what you pay for. It was unlimited servings for certain dishes, but not worth it as the flavor was lacking. The service was lacking too.

The food is always tasty, flavorful, and pleantiful. Free chips with great salsa. And they have combos so you can get a couple of different items each time you go. The outdoor deck is great when the weather is nice.

Everytime I visit the city, I meet with cousins here and never fails, it's awesome..The frozen margaritas are the best (loaded), you have to try the melted cheese bowl, WOW! Anyway, we always get a corner (best for big "loud" groups!) and the servers have...More

Margaritas and combo plates rule here, in NYU-land. My wife and I recently had lunch here, and the limited menu (Vegetarians beware) "What do you want with your chicken or shredded beef?" almost had me walking out. The Vegetarian Fajitas -- the one dish I...More

This was our 6th meal at El Cantinero, our first being 3 years ago when we were in NYC for our son's wedding. We make a point of going each time we're here and it never disappoints. Unpretentious, tasty food; pleasant, informal ambience & buzz;...More
