We were recommended this place from a local friend, we walked in and instantly smelt truffle which was clearly a popular dish. We however went against it and ordered ravioli and another classic pasta. Both fresh, both really tasty and the perfect little spot away from the madness in Soho

A locals classic with terrific classic Italian fare; don't go there for the decor but go there to enjoy truly good plates; we started of with some meatballs, a plate of spinach and another of mushroom each delicious; i went on with one of the best spaghetti vongole i had in a really long time. It was fun and delicious.

I used to eat here all the time when I lived in NYC. I went last week with my family including my 3 kids. This is not what I'd consider a kid friendly restaurant (they're 12,10 & 6) but I still wanted them to try it because I love the place so much. So how'd it go? All 3 of... More

Small tables that are Very close to each other. Only bring well behaved children because there is No place to "take them for a walk". Recommend but have a backup if it's... More

Bar Pitti was recommended to us by NYC locals and it did not disappoint. Small, no reservations taken, and quite crowded... but wonderful neighborhood vibe, good service, and outstanding food! Food was excellent -- northern Italian and items on the daily changing chalkboard (written in Italian) were explained by our fun capable and entertaining waiter. All of dishes were amazing... More

Nice decor, ok service but nothing special. I personally tought that it was a bit expensive for what we ate: 2 beers(bottle not pint), a plain sandwich with ham and mozzarella ( just dry bread and meat and cheese,no butter, no pesto or mustard or basil or something to make it less dry and plain) a pasta dish ( very... Very nice staff. You might need them to translate menu. Stays open late. Food was good. Wish they took credit cards so bring your cash.

I saw the Bar Piti at Taschen's book about New York. I read the avaliations here at Trip advisor and was a little bit afraid of the attendants, to be rude, etc. What a surprise!!! First, the attendants are so nice and friendly , we talked a lot, about Italy, food, New York! They suggested a lot of plates and... More

It is cash only. Had appetizers of eggplant parmigiana and mushrooms. The eggplant was enough for a full meal. Vegetarian pasta and ravioli and a pork panini. All were fresh, flavorful and good portions. Lemon tart and cappuccinos for dessert. All were top quality. Wait staff were busy but not too busy to engage in playful banter and fun. Great... More

The food here never disappoints. The service is great too. Not only is the owner Florentine, but many of the staff are Italians too. Considering the ultra-casual atmosphere and the fact that there are far too many tables for the space, the food is somewhat overpriced. That said, I keep returning nonetheless.

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
