We visited in mid October for a birthday celebration and were not disappointed. You should book a table in advance as this is a very popular restaurant. Walking through the doors is like being teleported to Paris. It is very atmospheric, bustling and convivial. We were seated immediately and ordered off the dinner menu. We had the steak frites which... More

Balthazar is probably more of a French restaurant in New York that you would find in Paris !!! Great simple old fashioned food, fabulous bread, gorgeous atmosphere. The service is faster than one would want it, but it is America..... We really enjoyed our evening & would go back. Booking is a must as queues quickly build up at the... More

Our friend Olga got engaged and ten of us went here for dinner . The standard of food was excellent from steak to fish dishes . It's old world and expensive but it worth every dollar . Service excellent . We will return to it s sister restaurant in London next year.

Sat at the bar and had a wonderful time. The atmosphere is extremely charming and you could easily be in a French cafe in Paris. The French onion soup is probably some of the best French onion soup I have ever had! Be sure to make a reservation bc it's always bustling!

When here twice in two days. Once for breakfast and once for lunch. Both meals were excellent and service attentive. Lunch waiter was efficient but not friendly and not so pleasant to bus boys. Very New York I think. Breakfast staff were friendly and efficient. Not cheap but not expensive either. Upmarket but not pretentious

Had a lovely meal at Balthazar on Saturday night. Food is pretty standard bistro fare, better than most. Atmosphere is very energetic, and it's right in the middle of Soho. A great spot to dine after poking around the shops and galleries in that part of town. If you're looking for a bargain, go elsewhere. Quite expensive for a bistro.... More

Fir a really special breakfast ir brunch in Soho look no further than Baltazar. Busy and bustling eatery that is on the expensive side but worth it. I had delicious salmon dogs Benedict and my wife had eggs Florentine that were exceptional. Fabulous baked goods and spot on service throughout.

Yes it is expensive, yes it is busy, yes the tables are very close together, yes it is noisy, BUT the food is very good and the experience worth the visit. We visited for a midweek dinner and was still very busy. As has been said the service is attentive without being too intrusive. A special mention of the French... More

Great service and great authentic food. Perfect way to celebrate a special occasion. The waiters are very attentive and look after you. I love the decor and the NY hustle and bustle.

Enjoyed dinner here one Friday evening. Reservations are essential as it gets super busy. Despite that the service was faultless, with just the right amount of attentiveness. We shared the Steak Tartare for starters, I tried the Moules Frites main which was just as good as the ones I've sampled in Belgium, my partner the Pan-roasted Salmon which he thoroughly... More

Staying in SoHo

Neighbourhood Profile
SoHo
Once the artistic hub of New York City, SoHo (South of Houston) is now one of the premiere shopping destinations in the world. Housing everything from the most popular luxury brands to swank boutiques you won’t find anywhere else, this is a sophisticated shopper’s dream come true. Broadway teems with big-name stores and people during the day, while Prince and Spring Streets are the other main drags to explore by foot. Take a detour down the quieter side streets to see the real star of the district –majestic cast-iron architecture everywhere you look. What were once warehouses and art studios are now meticulously restored loft buildings favored by many of New York’s celebrities, making SoHo one of the trendiest addresses in the city. The pretty streets of Nolita (North of Little Italy) offer a more sedate vibe, with plenty of tiny boutiques and hip restaurants to seek out.
