This place is wonderful great decoration, great ambience, great staff. We had this incredible cheese and meat platter to share to start with toasted bread which was really good. I had the impossible burger which was so good and my boyfriend had the saxon burger which was lovely. Having been to salvation burger earlier this week my recommendation would be... More

Wondering around for a great pub to stop into and found this place and man did we love it. Just a great looking venue, really tasty food and the drinks were the best we had in NYC. Bartenders here were great people and very helpful with suggestions. The atmosphere of the place is great, the downstairs private room looked very... More

As an Aussie from a state which grows amazing oysters I was curious about the famous New York version. Helpful waiter suggested a nice wine and organised a platter with 2 x 6 varieties from around the USA plus the Fried oyster plate. the impossible burger would be worth a visit for any veg/vegan. I'm neither and enjoyed it.

"Impossible Burger" on the menu, great marketing or mouth-watering dish?! I saw its photo for the first time, a perfect medium rare cutlet with blood. Why impossible? Because it's vegan. Invented by Impossible Foods, a start up of Silicon Valley, 5 years of work and billions of investments. As a result, they created a product that meets all the characteristics... More

Off the beaten track. Good service and interestingly appetizers. Try the fig with chorizo. Lots of marrow. When did that become a thing? Marrow bearnaise didn't do it for me. Their 40 oz "aged" rib eye special was tough. If you want a good steak go to a steak house. Other dishes looked better. Try the duck. The veggie burger... More

As a part time veggie had to go here to try the Impossible burger. It's the best veggie burger I have ever tasted, scrummy, meaty, oozy and great texture. The fries were fab too. We were lucky enough to pick a super warm evening and sat outside which was fun if you like to people watch as I do. Service... More

I was impressed by the atmosphere, food and drinks at this pleasant spot on the Bowery and left feeling very contented. The restaurant has a great bar that is very conducive to a few pre-dinner drinks. The menu was one of those from which I could happily have ordered just about everything and the food did not disappoint. I had... More

The atmosphere is great at this restaurant, it's a farm to table vibe meets prohibition style cocktail bar. Service was horrendously slow, took 3 hours for dinner which consisted of 2 courses, we opted not to have dessert because we didn't want to wait another hour. Everyone in our party agreed the food was average but nothing special. Two people... More

This is the place to visit for cocktails. Very professional bartenders, broad mix of high-quality liquor and perfectly served, creative cocktails.

We enjoyed a pleasant Sunday brunch here. Nice diverse set of food choices. Everyone was happy and full! Service was earnest and well intended, but we had at least 5 different people bring food items, so there was a bit of disjointedness.

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
