Food - generous portions, great tofu, good chicken, quick to deliver, very nice bowls Service - you have the option of sitting at the bar or waiting for a table, the wait on saturday pm was c45m so I took a bar seat, service was quick and reliable Experience- hybrid authentic Thai atmosphere with the busy yet friendly big-city vibes

Trendy atmosphere meets traditional Thai coupled with great service . We had the papaya salad which was delicious (if you like spicy) followed by the pad Thai and the green curry. Flavors were on point, check this place out but watch out for spice level if you are more of a mild-med spice person Ngam was a great date while... More

We were a party of 6 and shared the entrees and main dishes . I do want to mention the fact that though we mentioned we were sharing, we were not advise at the size of the entree. we had to reorder a plate of spring rolls as there are only 4 pieces (2 cut in half) and they were... More

We enjoyed this place. The Thai burger was a very creative spinn on a burger. Deducting one point on the score as they started taking away plates before we both where done eating.

Really enjoyed our meal in Ngam. The atmosphere is lively with good background music which was not overpowering. The waitress placed us at a table for 2 which was much more pleasant than the large communal table. The food was really enjoyable - can particularly recommend the green papaya salad.

Was here with son in law . He recommended , since he lives in NY. Excellent choice. I had to rely on s-i-law because you cannot read the menu , even the waiters cannot ?? Why is that ? So every plate was a ??? what's going to come ! But , honnestly , everything was perfect . Don't ask... More

We've been to countless Thai restaurant around the world and were very often disappointed. Not this time ! Ngam is great. It is lively, nicely decorated, and the food is just awesome. Real Thai flavours and real spices (we asked our dishes to be done super hot... and they were, even for our trained palates !!!). Can't wait to go... More

Wanted to like this more and it's more than acceptable, just misses a wow element nor is it traditional Thai. The big talk was the Chiang Mai fries, which while interesting weren't anything wow. The Pad Thai uses green mango noodles flash fried instead of traditional rice noodles. This was quite good but it felt like it was missing a... More

Interesting menu, reasonable prices, cool atmosphere. I don't typically order dessert but the panna cotta was delicious! I've been 4x now, mostly get the specials, they don't disappoint :)

I eat here often with a friend who's allergic (seriously) to gluten. Not too expensive, and staff is really nice. Love the pad kee mao here. Very close to a bunch of subway lines (NQR456L) and very close to Union Square.

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
