Came across this wonderful little restaurant as headed towards Greenwich Village. It was closed but looked so interesting that decided to call in for a meal. The Mac'n Cheese with the crab was great. My wife had the salad and cheese platter which she loved, too. Great atmosphere, other than a very loud mouthed Republican on next table espousing the... More

This is not you average cheese shop. There is a wine bar downstairs that has a great happy hour and offers many dishes which include the cheeses they make. The cozy wine bar offers an escape from the busy neighborhood and a relaxing atmosphere.

We loved this place. I had a quick lunch here with my son and it is clear the locals love the place. They claim to have the best mac 'n cheese in NY, big statement ! But it was amazing, my son agreed. We also had the grilled cheese sandwich and a glass of wine.

The atmosphere was interesting and probably fun for casual dinner or after work drinks. The cheese plate was yummy. Our crab and egg benedict dish delicious. Bloody mary spicy; I like it spicy, luckily! The only negative was the coffee had a strong hickory flavor that had sort of a harsh finish and that was the only kind they had.... More

If you love cheese then this place can not be missed, either to pop in at the shop upstairs or head downstairs for a bite to eat. we had the cheese board, antipasto and wine...perfect. Friendly knowledgable staff, intimate atmosphere.

See the cheese made, read about the way 4th and 5th graders become "food detectives" to change the way America eats, buy the outstanding recipe books, and enjoy the ambiance either in the upstairs carry-out and casual area or the fancier cellar downstairs. I choose upstairs and had yummy mac and cheese (although the grilled cheese sandwiches were tempting) and... More

What a place! Rainy Saturday touring New York City by foot and subway, and Beecher's was my destination. The staff was very knowledgeable about their cheeses and menu items. Coming from Wisconsin I had high standards for my cheese curds and cheese, and they did not disappoint. The staff talked me through their Flagship cheese, which is amazing, and of... More

Located in the Flatiron district, U stopped here after a few hours at the amazing Farmers Market in Union Square. Whereas Seattle's retail counter is sanitized looking, this location bows to the repurposed vibe. You can read the five steps of cheese making, and sometimes watch man/machine at work while awaiting your cafe order upstairs. Downstairs has sit down service.... More

Visiting NY and happened to come across this restaurant and went in and loved the service and how the cheese was being aged in the cellar where we ate. Incredible Mac & Cheese! The service was exception! Great Find !

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
