This restaurant has a very nice ambiance with an elegant and retro decor with high ceilings and chandeliers. Overall a pleasant dining experience with a price to match. We both tried seafood dishes and the sauces were outstanding. The desserts were delicious as well.Convenient location for hotel guests at Hotel Carlton.

Has a good bar and very average eats - overpriced for what they offer. Has a classy ambience, hopes to be upscale but service is a dead non starter.

We decided to try this restaurant for two reasons: the chef is two star Michelin chef and we got a very good deal on Travelzoo. Our server was very good and equally charming. From my baked oysters to the watermelon gazpacho our first courses were excellent. Our main dishes were equally good and the dessert choices though only a few... More

the location of the restaurant upstairs with a strange staircase leading to it or through the empty bar in the late afternoon makes you wonder if you are in the right place. The ambiance where we sat over looking the lobby was somewhat casual with lumpy leather seats. The food was very good and the waiter terrific in explaining everything... More

Being from the Bay Area we were looking forward to our dinner since the chef had worked at Aqua in San Francisco. At first we were not sure what was going on as they were rather empty for a Saturday night. But we were impressed with the service and attension which was nice along with the Art Deco decorations as... More

Arrived through the lower level door and found not a person to ask questions. If fact, there appeared to be a private party going on. Finally made our way up stairs and were seated at a most uncomfortable corner banquette over looking the hotel lobby, only to have a dinner companion, say it felt like a steel beam across the... It's a real shame that this restaurant is tucked away and doesn't have the volume of clientele that it deserves. We had a round of cocktails and shared the stuffed pimentos which were delicious - they were sort of caramelized so some sides had a slight crunch to them and the cherry tomatoes were perfectly cooked with the flesh bursting... Stayed at the Carlton and thought on Sunday I would try the brunch here. Does not open until 11:30, normal for NYC, but I was starving. Guess I should have had breakfast earlier. They have a $29 option that includes a Vodka Punch (which was really good) and a Sangria. There were 6 or 8 options for the $29 which... More

I wanted oysters for my Birthday, so we chose this restaurant because they have them. They were very fresh, and the only reason I am not rating this place as Excellent is because they were very small. You really need a dozen of them, whether they are raw as I had them, or baked, which was my partner's choice. For... More

The menu draws its inspiration from the classic seafood dishes found throughout France, and features fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local waters and nearby farms. Dishes are prepared with straightforward French cooking techniques and bold flavors in a surrounding that is reminiscent of the great cafes of Paris. Red banquets, a marble raw bar and an open kitchen provide an unpretentious but sophisticated experience.
