What a Rip off ! When you think of an Italian restaurant, you think eating a good pasta. Well in this restaurant the pasta tastes like frozen meal. Not more than FROZEN MEAL. Seriously, how hard is it to make a good pasta ? I don't understand how people still go there... I also fell into the TRAP myself too.... More

Great food, huge portion sizes. Tiny, tiny restaurant. Locals eat here. Not sure how crowded it gets during travel season, but off season we had to book a table. Their coffee is really good. Very romantic setting, especially for dinner. I consider this a mid-range place at about $20-$30 a plate, because it's NYC and "fine dining" is considered $100... More

Cozy little place a bit out of the way but not too inconvenient for a "pre MSG" dinner. Tasty homemade pasta, fresh salads and yummy desserts. Service was attentive. Drinks were a bit on the light side.

I was born and raised in NYC, but have not lived there for over 40 years. It has changed so much over that time that although it will always be home, I feel just like a tourist when it comes to dining. I was therefore delighted on a recent business trip to midtown to discover the Mercato Trattoria & Bar.... More

We stopped in here right during the busy dinner hour and somehow they found a seat for us. Tight but very homey. The waiters authentic accent helped to set the scene. The Roasted Beet salad was perfect. Jordan had the Baked RedFish special which was fantastic. I had the Italian Sausage and Potato grilled in Garlic Oil appetizer WOW it... More

Had a business lunch here and we ate bronzino and a pear salad with arugula and parmesan. Both were good but the dinner was brought down by the brushchetta appetizer. The Bruschetta was three pieces tapenade, tomato and mushroom. Each bread slice wastotally soaked with moisture (it had to be a left over) and that was a total turn off.

This restaurant is but a red framed door and hidden behind a velvet drape is a gorgeous Italian restaurant with a wonderful exposed cellar. The meal was divine along with service. We hope to return!

This restaurant was close to our hotel so we decided to pop in for a late supper. It was quite and quaint and not at all crowded. I was torn between trying the salmon and the sea bream and at the server's recommendation, I went with the sea bream. It was a decision well made. The fish was perfectly prepared,... More

We had the pleasure of stumbling across this gem and dined here twice. It does not look like much from the outside but the place is always packed with what appeared to be locals and tourists. It serves great quality Italian food, wit friendly service. We recommend booking, as this place gets busy.

We love Italian, and it was spectacular. Small and cosy restaurant. Better if you reserve. Excellent pasta. Excellent service, staff in very professional. Very good quality for the price you pay. You have to go and try.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
