We went on a crowded day. Service was somewhat slow and inattentive. While the service was lackluster the burgers were amazing! They had a good selection of craft beers, which our party enjoyed. We had a large crowd which you would think would bring a higher level of service, but I felt it was opposite. Everyone in our party enjoyed... More

The place was crowded but that was to be expected. The problem was the fact that I, as a vegetarian, was rudely greeted by the waiter at the restaurant. Their policy at the restaurant was "no substitutes" but when I politely asked if that also meant for vegetarian alternatives or if I could choose one of the already existing burgers... More

A bit off the beaten track but well worth a visit. Went there once for food and beers and once just for beers. Great choice of beers and prices not too bad either!

We've just come back from a short weekend break to NYC and the Black Iron Burger restaurant was close to our hotel. Cozy, warm and friendly with a mix of couples, families and groups of friends enjoying the venue. Unusually, all three of us ordered burgers and and a mix of sides (salads, fries etc). The burgers were incredibly tasty;... More

We were recommended this burger joint by the hotel and it was well worth the visit. The burgers were cooked to perfection and the portion sizes were just right. I had the Turkey Burger which was moist unlike many others I have tasted in the city. The restaurant gets very busy so get there early to guarantee a seat.

Little hotspot in the Eadt village. The Burgers are just in the right size for us. Meat, yes you taste the meat, is in great quality. Service, barman is in one persan and one cook, is managing the place flexible and souverain. Must be

you will find great burgers and great beers at this place. Really nice to find a place like this that isn't a chain in the centre of Manhattan. The only reason why this doesnt get 5* is because our waiter was a little bored - didnt really seem interested in serving us. Irrespective, I would still go again!

The place was packed, but we didn't mind to sit at the bar. The burger was juice and hot. I ordered the garlic fries, which were awesome.

We both had a black iron burger and large chips to share. Burgers were juicy and just as we ordered when we were asked how we'd like them. Yum yum!! Amazing burger and our waiter was great with helping me choose a good beer because the one I wanted was sold out. Really good range of craft beers.

Took my nine year old daughter on surprise trip to New York.. parked the car and needed a quick bite before we hit the town and decided to give the dark and industrial spot a try. The food and atmosphere was any thing but dark... Super bright and fresh inside as was the food!

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
