My wife and I and another couple were looking for a reasonable restaurant on the East Side (upper 30s and Park Avenue) for brunch on a recent Saturday. We found this lovely restaurant in the Scandinavia House. Delicious and fresh salads (I had a plate of four herrings - a Scandinavian specialty that I first ate in Copenhagen). The staff... More

Tasty bread, spicy mayo, chicken breast, roasted red pepper & melted Gouda cheese. Scrumptious! The waitress told us that at least one person at every table orders this. I would definitely have it again!

My companion has met for coffee with a group of friends weekly for several years, and the coffee and pastries are always excellent. The food has a Scandinavian bent, of course, and the seafood tends to be the best. Cleanliness is superb, and the waitstaff is pleasant and very helpful.

We had a movie at 7 at the Scandinavia House; this place did great service, getting us out in 40 minutes. We had salads, which are wonderful, as well as two mains: the herring sampler for my wife and the Swedish meatballs with gravy, mashed pot, and cranberry and cold red cabbage. For dessert my wife had a tea, which... More

There is plenty to enjoy here: Scandinavian food (think gravlax, herring, Swedish meatballs, lingonberry soda), American/Continental fare (think chicken, salmon, burgers, salads), modern and tranquil atmosphere (except just before or after an evening event). Midtown location perfect. Good value.

Between us we had the classic smorgasbord and swedish meatball entrees. The salads are huge...we shared the roasted beet salad. And the Swedish Princess Cake (princessastart) is to die for. Everything here is exceptionally fresh and is actually raised or grown on their own farm (except for the fish, obviously - not to say the fish isn't fresh..it is). Great... More

Crowded but great service. We went for brunch and there were great choices to share. Gravlax is great and other dishes quite good. A rare find for the neighborhood but reservations aren't a crazy idea.

I really wanted to love this restaurant - I enjoy all things Scandinavian and wanted to relive some good times spent in Sweden. The food was good - it came close to traditional Swedish flavors and combinations, and the ingredients were fresh. The service was really slow, though, and the meal was way overpriced for what was received.

This restaurant has deteriorated significantly. It had been two years since I dinned here, and since my previous experiences were stellar I expected more of the same. What an utter disappointment! The wait staff were not knowledgable of the menu. They were simply clueless when it came to food allergens and vegetarian items. We called ahead prior to our reservation... More

If you like Scandinavian-inspired food and the atmosphere of Scandinavian dining, this is a good choice. Be prepared for small/reasonable portions (i.e. Not the overwhelming feed troughs Americans have gotten used to). The food was very good. The Smorgasbord was a nice, representative sampling of Scandinavian foods, while the Gravlaks Sandwich was a more filling selection. Service was very good... More
