After a bit of waiting outside for a place on the bar (just 15 min after opening) we had a great experience. The bartender was very professional and make us amazing cocktails. Very recommended

Death & Co. houses my favourite bar program and bartenders. Tyson and Jarred are excellent ambassadors to bartending and mixology, and are just as creative as they are knowledgeable. The experiences my wife and I had at Death & Co. were unforgettable and I will always be inspired by their output as a fellow bartender. Prost!

Me and my girlfriend visited to celebrate us getting engaged. We are both cocktail fans and visiting death & co was something we really wanted to do whilst visiting from the uk. This is an authentic speakeasy with a great frontage and great decoration inside. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable and the cocktails were superb. We had 9... More

Loved Death & Co. This is a legitimate speakeasy with no joke cocktails. The food was on point and we loved every cocktail we tried. A must try when in the East Village neighborhood.

Tapped on trying to get in, guy on door took our number and rang when space available. We got seats at the bar within an hr. Great environment, dark with candle lights. Service was ok. Drinks were strong but very expensive $26 each for cocktails plus the 20% tip. Glad I've been but wouldn't rush back

Was disappointed by how long it took to get drinks at the company event we had here. Great cocktails and engaging staff but the slow service really left a bad taste. Maybe caught them on an off night?

Approaching the heavy wooden doors of Death and Co. for our reservation at opening was daunting at first. It has the feel of a private club nestled in among the hipster venues of the Lower East Side. Quickly, we were greeted by the doorman who showed us into the host, or at least led us to her. Coming in from... More

We came here for my birthday on a Tuesday for a party of 5. We had dinner in East Village and wanted to check out a Speak Easy for drinks. We stopped by Death & Co around 9pm and the bouncer said it was an hour wait. It's clearly harder to get in with a larger group. He took down... More

If you are going to this bar please be prepare to wait at least for an hour to get in. It is worth the wait, you can just go to the bar around the corner and get one or two drinks until you get that much waited text message "your table is ready". The service is good, the bartenders are... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
