The dim sum is excellent. Overall the food is good. We went around 4 pm and it was still fairly busy. Very nice helpful staff.

Spent all day in NYC without real food. Placed a delivery order at 10 pm on a Friday night. They delivered in about 40 min. I have definitely had better dim sum. Our order was not very flavorful and the buns and dumplings were not...More
Went there with a large group and I have to say that I've never been treated so poorly in any restaurant. The wait staff just didn't care if we got any service or not. And the food portions were small and had little or no...More
Most restaurants in Chinatown are packed to the gills at lunchtime with crowds waiting for tables in cramped spaces. Red Egg, thankfully, is not such a place. The interior is rather spacious and well laid out so that you can have a quiet conversation if...More

Really good dim sum, inexpensive, quiet at lunch time, food didn't take long to come out, clean bathrooms, staff were efficient.
Food was mediocre and tasteless and they have no license so you can only drink water/tea with your meal. Decor is very dark and mirrors very streaky, tables get sticky giving the overall impression of not being very clean.

Strolled over from my nearby hotel and was pleasantly surprised. The dim sum was tasty and VERY well priced. Turnip Cake and Shrimp/Scallop dumplings were a highlight. Also enjoyed the chicken Shaomai. If you find yourself in the neighborhood, worth a stop.
If you're from a place where you get good dim sum (we're from San Francisco, and we go to dim sum quite a bit), this place will probably just be "okay" to you like it was to us. Pretty basic selection and plain taste. But...More
