I can't believe people complain about this place being overpriced and overrated. We stopped after a visit to Festival Park for lunch with the family (had a total of eight people). Decided to stop because it was the only place in town that looked really...More

We have gone here a few times and my wife usually enjoys it. I find the food a little over priced for being fried seafood. It's locally owned and staffed so that's a plus. The sweet tea and hush puppies are good. The home style...More

Had a family dinner here, very friendly and efficient staff. Dinner was good, my husband had an enormous fried seafood assortment and enjoyed it. I had broiled scallops that were fresh and well cooked. All the food was good. It's sort of an old school...More

Darell's was recommended to us by one of the housekeeping staff. My husband had asked her where some good restaurants were, ones that the locals eat at. Definitely an older restaurant. Nothing fancy. The food was excellent. We had shrimp, breaded fish, and crab cakes....More

I ordered the fried shrimp and oysters with fries and slaw. And my friend ordered a steak with marinated tomatoes fries. The food was great and the price was not to bad. There menu is limited but it has something for everyone.

We showed up right at the end of lunch. We were promptly seated. I do believe we were the only ones in the restaurant. We waited a few minutes and a very nice waitress came and took our drink order. It took a while for...More

We grabbed breakfast on the way out of town at Darrell's. The restaurant was fairly busy but not full. We were seated promptly upon arriving shortly after 9 on Saturday. It was downhill from there, unfortunately. Biggest complaint is the service. The young lady serving...More

We ate here for lunch and it was absolutely fantastic! The clam strips were delicious and those are some of the best green beans I've had on the beach. This is like a combination of southern cooking and seafood. The menu has several options to...More

Weekday early evening visit. We were greeted promptly by a couple of young female hostesses. The restaurant advertised in our hotel directory as the first of 2 locations opened 1960. Seemed to be older family style establishment offering seafood and barbecue. I had fried shrimp...More

Description
Darrell’s is a family-style seafood restaurant that’s been a favorite on Roanoke Island since 1960. Seafood is the definite specialty; the fried oysters are widely touted as the best anywhere, served with the traditional fixings of cole slaw, french fries and hush puppies. Locals know that Darrell’s does seafood right. Land food, children’s fare and light eaters’ dishes are also available. Darrell’s is now serving the best BBQ and BBQ Ribs fresh off an all narural wood fired smoker. Helpings are heaping and desserts are delicious, if you have room. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served Monday-Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday’s.
