I live in the area so have stopped in this local brew bar a couple of times but just don't enjoy the kids & dogs vibe. So I was glad to have come for the Saturday noon - 2pm beers and Nomads Donuts tasting event...in November, This was held upstairs on the roof patio. Sat with a couple interesting gals from Carlsbad/Encinitas area. We very much enjoyed the donuts & the beers and it was an event I would definitely come for again. This brewery has many interesting events and releases of beers so it's always something different for the most part except the dogs & kids in the small downstairs bar most of the time.More

Even though I don't live close by, I've been to this place a number of times. The staff and the clientele have always been friendly. I can always find a beer to my liking. Their food menu is limited - there's usually a food truck...parked in front. Give them a try if you're in the area...More

I extended my business trip in San Diego to experience the city for some days. I stayed in the neighborhood and walked in for a bite and a craft beer recommended by the buy in the bike shop of the area. The service was just...great and despite the frequent new customers coming and ordering their beer, the gent was kind enough and patient enough to try to find a beer that suits my preferred taste! It was a nice solo eve that I enjoyed two exquisite craft beers and the food truck. Just what I was looking for.More

The selection of beers is good and the place seems to be popular and trendy. However for someone not drinking beer from choice, medical reasons or pregnant or designated driver etc the only alternative to beer is water. Maybe worth considering a soft drink alternative?

My boyfriend and I came here last weekend in search of food and some delicious brews. Unfortunately their food truck was done for the night (around 8:45) and the place next door had sold out of food (out of sheer popularity). We did get two...beers. He very much enjoyed his and finished it fairly quickly. I was in search of a sour which they didn't have. They didn't have anything close to it either. I ended up going with a Japanese option which wasn't great but wasn't terrible. The place was loud and pretty busy but decent enough with plenty of seating and good service. Overall, I'd recommend it, particularly to beer lovers. Just be aware that food is not guaranteed.More

At a minimum, stop in for a beer with your dog and just relax a while. Seems like a local place where one can just kick back, enjoy a great draft beer at a decent price with a pretty chill crowd of patrons that is...pretty mixed. The place can be a bit noisy at times but always a good vibe. As other reviews have said, there is not much here by the way of food but the BBQ place next door and the food truck that is always there takes care of that (varies daily, I believe). The bar doesn't mind if you bring food into the establishment and the food truck attendants will gladly bring your food inside if you like. Anyway, overall a bit different and worth the trip.More

Good Beer, good service, very friendly. Food truck every afternoon out front, BBQ and ice cream around the corner. Bring a friend, dog, family (including kids) and have some fun. It gets crazy downstairs and if that is too much, wander upstairs where there is...a little more room. I live nearby and go once or twice a month.More

I visited Thorn's with a friend and was very pleased with their offer offerings. There's not much food unless they're collaborating with a local restaurant. But their brewery is excellent and service very good. Well worth a stop. Try their Coconut Porter, 8.2%, their "Fornication"...Belgian Strong Ale 9%, or their Abbey Roof Belgian Quad 10.2%... insane!More

I love animals. I have two dogs at home. I know this is crazy but, I don’t take my dogs everywhere with me. My idea of a fun weekend night isn’t going to grab a beer with Fido - I have friends, people friends. I...don’t judge you for wanting to take your dog out on a Friday night – that’s your business. I DO judge you for letting your dog wander. For letting your dog knock over someone’s kid. For letting your dog growl and snap at another person’s dog. For you vigorously itching your dog’s back while I watch his fur fly in the air, trying desperately not to sneeze – or let the dander get into my beer. Sorry, I’m just not into it. I won’t be back. I don’t want to deal with your dogs. There were SIX dogs here on Friday. SIX! Great brewery. Great location. But don’t bother coming unless you love dogs – like, REALLY love dogs.More

Thorn Street Brewery has become a community minded fixture in North Park. My friends and I have enjoyed Wednesday Trivia Night, King of Ping (pong) fundraiser for local schools and the vibe of a laid back and family friendly pub. The beer brewed on site...is yummy and regular food trucks mean you can eat delicious food along with your locally crafted beer. Our kids have even enjoyed pizza and got their homework done at TSB!More

LOVE this place! This is my group's regular spot for trivia, great beer, & fun food trucks. The trivia on Wednesday nights is awesome! It's harder than most but don't get discouraged. The host does a great job of moving things along so you don't...get stuck sitting around for 3 hours & the questions have a great range/variety. The bartenders are all very nice from my experience. My favorite aspect, other than the amazing craft beer of course, is that they have different food trucks out in front of the bar every day. Once you order, they will bring the food inside for you at no extra charge. The bar allows you to eat whichever food truck's fare is available inside!More

Good beer, friendly staff, nice for dogs and kids. Food truck outside not worth the money except for the exceptional fries which go great with the beer. Go inside, have a beer first....then go outside and buy a snack if you feel like it. Very...noisy inside so no good if you want gentle conversation. Nice deli outside on next door patio but it closes early. Easy neighborhood pub feel.More
