I went there literally a week after it opened. The owner (an Irish woman) was extremely nice and welcoming. My wife and I had excellent wine (Sangiovese) with amazing fried calamari with cherry tomatoes. Everything served right away in a quite and comfortable environment. I went over again, a few months later and found day to night changes. The same... More

I was at Volle Nolle for a dinner with my fiancé and two friends. We wanted to have Italian food so we went to the North End. The place was small but very nice, so we decided to wait for a free table. We were given the menus while we were standing to "save time". The food wasn't bad, it... More

We actually ate here in October 2014 (not 2015 but TripAdvisor doesn't let you go that far back). I have never forgotten this place even a year and a half later. Nothing has beaten it since. My friend and I loved everything we ate here. Fabulous, just fabulous. The chef came out and spoke with us and explained how he... More

Save yourself the cost of a flight to Rome...this food is outstanding. Little place but awesome food. Worth the wait outside. Recommend calling ahead for reservations.

We looked up Trip Advisor's recommendation on places to eat Italian food in Boston. This place was ranked well among a variety of options. We sat at the front of restaurant and had a nice view of rhe street. We started our dinner with a commentary calamari appetizer which came with a white and a red dipping sauce. Next came... More

We walked in off the street. What drew me in was the sheepskins on the seats. Volle Nolle is tiny, with maybe enough seating for 25 people. Dark walls, a wall of wine bottles, and a good music mix. Food was terrific. Mm rolls were fresh and warm and olive oil and olives sooooo good. Arugula salad was simple, served... More

We've been there by surprise as the place looked nice. Warm welcome and caring people. Small but exciting menu. We went for starters and the main courses ; difficult to choose so we tried a bit of all. A nice change in the area with surprising tweaks for example for the green beans !

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
