Having seen glowing reviews, hindsight dictates that Sam LaGrassa's and its praise-giving customers value one thing: quantity, quantity, quantity. There is no hint of quality anywhere. What you get is a very quickly prepared (not a bad thing, per say) sandwich of average quality ingredients. My grilled vegetable wrap tasted of literally nothing: the fibers of the vegetables were little... More

You have to try this place. I have been to all the New York Joints, Katz's, Carnegie, Stage etc. So I am pretty picky. This place can hold its own against them all. I had the Jumbo Rueben and the Pastrami Traveller. My recommendation is to get any condiments on the side. That was my only regret. Even though the... More

Were this not the #1 restaurant in Boston, I probably wouldn't have thought much one way or another about my lunch. But, for all the hype, I just don't get it. The pastrami was bland, period.

Awesome sarnis! And whats more really helpful staff public side of the counter to help oiks like us try to work out the hieroglyphs pretending to be a menu! Quantities too are massive so we shared a pastrami 'something' which came with about 40 add ons! If you order to go you may need a wheelbarrow!

As an avid traveler and a big foodie when I see a simple fast food restaurant ranked #1 out of 3000 in Boston , then it becomes a must visit on my agenda... I visited Sam LaGrassa's with not much of an expectation considering they are simply a sandwich shop. Upon arrival I was greeted by a very friendly and... More

What a sandwich! Having been to some amazing delli when a tour guide told us about this place we had to go! We had one of their speciality sandwiches the meat was juicy and flavourful. The russian sauce was lovely and brought the sandwich together so well. I wish we had places like this in the UK!

When we first walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by Angela. She was amazing! Her lunch suggestions rocked. We had pastrami sandwiches, turkey sandwiches and of course added the platter - cole slaw and potato salad. Our meals were all 5 stars.

Lines out the door at this place that is only open until after lunch. The meats are smoked on premises. If you love pastrami, this may be the best ever, and they offer several styles. It is amazing how they keep things moving so quickly all while preparing fresh meals.

No place beats this amazing spot. Been too long since my last visit... If you want a great sandwich and enjoy pastrami, my favorite sandwich is the Chipotle Pastrami... a thing of beauty. Love it here!

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
